THE ROLE

Overall Purpose of Job:
Under Direct Supervision, using independent judgment within established practices and guidelines, by Management of the client or its subsidiaries (indicated as “the Company”), the purpose of this position is to provide the essential administrative and technical knowledge and direction for the job functions listed below with the objective of ensuring the client's competitiveness within the global marketplace by delivering quality services of unmatched value.

Primary Job Duties/Functions:
1. Serves as Mechanical Package Engineer (non-static equipment) and/or Lead/Area Lead on assigned projects coordinating and/or assisting in coordination of activities including preparation of Technical Requirements, bid clarifications, award kickoff, shop inspection, punch listing, FAT/SAT and provision of assistance with maintainability assessments including mechanical handling & access and selection of spares
2. Performs and checks calculations using both computer aided and manual techniques, specifies equipment, and solves problems of moderate engineering complexity
3. Reviews specifications, drawings, and vendor equipment documentation from both within the discipline as well as from other disciplines for compliance with project requirements and actively seeks resolution
4. Assists in the performance of audits
5. Exhibits thorough understanding and adherence of pertinent codes and governing regulations and industry practices, etc. as well as department practices and procedures
6. Participates in people development, provides guidance to less experienced engineers and attends external technical seminars and self-enroll in training courses for in-house management
7. Travel, as required, to ensure the successful execution of project and/or department goals
8. Develops and builds client relations
9. Provides close interface with, and promotes the understanding of, other discipline functions
10. Utilize vendor data and work with personnel from other disciplines as required for the performance of designs
11. If serving in a Lead/Area Lead position, perform all or some of the following: organize/plan jobs, write/review specifications, prepare/maintain schedules, develop/monitor estimates and manpower forecasts, assign work, work with project/client/field, material procurement, permit, and subcontract activities
12. Other related duties/functions as assigned

 

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

1. An accredited Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering
2. 10+ years in an office, field engineering or maintenance engineering role.
3. 3+ years experience on an operating oil and gas or chemicals plant preferred.
4. Self starter with good communications skills and ability to work in a cross discipline team.

DESIRABLE SKILLS

1. Professional Registration preferred
2. Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of MS Office, Primavera/MS Projects as well as the intermediate use of spreadsheets.
3. The use of Discipline Specific software may be required
