The Legal Clerk/Courier provides administrative service and support to staff within the Legal Department with a special emphasis on the hand delivery and external filing of documents as may be necessary.
Duties & Accountabilities –
Assists with the accurate filing of all documents within the department and maintains department’s filing systems;
Provides administrative support to the Executive Assistant and the Administrative Assistant including the following:-
Assists with photocopying (especially bulk copying)
Ensures that the copier is always well stocked with paper
Ensures that the shredding is always up-to-date
Assists with preparation of Board and Tenders Committee packages, where required
Prepares and modifies documents including correspondence, reports, drafts, memos, presentations and emails as directed by the Executive Assistant.
Perform general office duties as may be required
Hand delivers documents within close proximity to the office.
Files pleadings for court actions and conducts searches at Court registries and delivers correspondence as needed; and
Files documents and conducts searches at the registries of the Registrar General’s Department including the Companies Registry and Property Registry.
Qualifications –
Five (5) CXC General subjects including Mathematics and English Language
Orientation to Court Processes will be a definite asset
Orientation to processes at the Registrar General’s Department is a requirement
Certificate in Computer Literacy
At least 3 years’ relevant working experience in a Legal Environment with specific knowledge in the conduct of searches and the filing of Court documents and documents required by the Registrar General
Effective verbal and written communication
Sound interpersonal skills.
