The Jamaica Cultural Development Commission is a Statutory Body of Government that falls under the ages of the Ministry of Youth and Culture.  It is governed by a Board of Directors; the Commission has responsibility for promoting cultural development at the community level throughout Jamaica.  It therefore seeks to stimulate the development of cultural activities so as to retain traditional cultural expressions and showcase them at the National Level.  The focus therefore is identifying and training local talents, mounting exhibitions, parades, etc; organizing the Independence Anniversary Celebrations and the Annual Festival of the Visual and the Performing Art, National Commemorative Events and Official Public Functions; in addition to complementing the work of other agencies engaged in community development.
