I.T Systems Administrator

 

Overview: Our client is one of the leading technology solutions in the Caribbean. Due to growth, they are seeking to employ a competent Systems Administrator to assist the Barbados based I.T Operation.

 Duties & Responsibilities:

To ensure the highest service quality and care for Billers, Collection Points, and end-users. This includes all activities related to system configuration and maintenance, Collection Point and Biller onboarding, training, and supporting the management and internal staff.

  • Actively update, maintain and monitor all aspects of the IT systems or provide appropriate assistance where these activities are outsourced.
  • Actively monitor and update all cyber security systems.
  • Create and maintain a working log detailing all software, applications and subscriptions, complete with versions, expirations and updates.
  • Participates in testing software upgrades, working with billers to document and recreate issues, and filling out incident management documentation.
  • Writing code and scripts for applications, biller integrations as well as installing, maintaining, and testing applications.
  • Manage database and data feeds that support daily business reporting.
  • Create and maintain a schematic diagram of the entire IT infrastructure, including contracts, warranties, and subscriptions.
  • Install and configure computer systems and applications within the company.
  • Prepare standard and ad hoc reports to track trends and analytics.
  • Respond to internal and external customer inquiries and assist in troubleshooting and resolving challenges.
  • Attend in-person meetings with clients to analyze, troubleshoot and diagnose IT problems.
  • Organise and file documentation on warranties and instructional guides for computer hardware.
  • Manage support escalations appropriately based on Service Level Agreements.
  • Using the most effective and appropriate medium, guide, train, and educate prospective billers, collection points, end customers, and internal support agents on platform and service.
  • Maximise IT systems capabilities by studying technical applications and making recommendations.
  • Maintain and manage sandbox for testing new applications and application compatibility.
  • Carry out software, network, and database performance tuning as appropriate.
  • Keeps up to date on technical advancements by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional societies.
  • Prepares reference material for users by drafting operation instructions.
  • Support biller onboarding and engagement by delivering product presentations with local and regional Operational Leads.

Desired Qualifications & Experience:

 

  • Associate Degree in Information Technology or equivalent qualification.
  • Technical diploma, A+ Certification, Network+ or equivalent certification.
  • A minimum of two (2) to three (3) years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Relevant hands-on engineering or development experience.
  • Ability to develop and improve software applications.
  • Proficiency in programming languages, such as Java, SQL, .NET, and C.
  • Experience in office equipment repairs, IP Telephony and/or Networking Technologies.
  • MCSE and CCNA certifications (not a requirement, but an asset).
  • Excellent communication, collaboration and inter-personal relationship skills
  • Excellent planning, organizing and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical, diagnostical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and exercise commensurate levels of initiative and judgment.
  • Proficiency in the use of service and MS Office applications.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and personal vehicle.
  • Possess the required documents to facilitate regional and international travel.
