Grade 3 Mortuary Attendant

Duties of the post include:

1. 1.      Embalming cadavers to prevent decomposition.

1. 2.      Washing and disinfecting tank with cadavers and specimens.

1. Replacing specimen upon completion of study exercises.

1. Ensuring the security of cadavers, human specimen and anatomical charts and models.

1. Keeping a register of students’ visits to the laboratories in between classes.

1. Performing any other related duties as may be assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Applicants should have knowledge in embalming cadavers and specimens. Applicants are required to know basic medical and forensic terms, skills and training in the use and maintenance of tools and other laboratory equipment.  Applicants must have good housekeeping skills and inventory practices.  Applicants must demonstrate a level of comfort working with cadavers as this is an integral part of the nature of the job.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates should possess at least five (5) G.C.E ‘O’ Levels or CXC (General I, II or III from 1998) passes including English Language. 

Experience:

Required:

Three (3) years relevant work experience in handling cadavers, working in a funeral home or mortuary.
