Primary portfolio entails:

To conduct 30 interviews with business owners, business associations and academic institutions as part of a team of Field Officers, in order to identify opportunities for cluster development in the South Western peninsula of Trinidad and Tobago.

 

Project Details:

 

The goal of this project is to foster sustainable economic growth and enhance competitiveness in Trinidad and Tobago. The general objective is to identify opportunities for improving the competitiveness of the Tourism and Entertainment Sector.

The specific objectives are:

 

  1. Cluster Mapping of the Tourism & Entertainment sector of Trinidad & Tobago which entails a mapping of existing clusters and/or localized areas of business concentration in the industry.
  2. Determining Linkages of the Tourism sector with Entertainment: emphasis on Live and Cultural Entertainment with a view of identifying possible opportunities for increasing and deepening linkages between both sectors locally.
  3. Identification of the value chain of the Tourism and Entertainment Sector in Trinidad & Tobago.
  4. Empirical Case Benchmarking and National Brand Assessment for Trinidad and Tobago as a Tourism destination.
  5. Industry and Comparative Analysis of Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Barbados, Grenada and Martinique (these four countries were chosen based on size, relevance to the regional tourism industry, diversity and geographic proximity). The primary purpose of this industry and market analysis for these countries will be to identify potential opportunities for market development, and formalizing linkages with businesses operating in our local Tourism and Entertainment sector.
  6. The results of this project would feed into an implementation plan, the design of a cluster business development training programme, a Diploma in Tourism and Entertainment Innovation and an MBA in Music and Creative arts all of which are customized to meet the needs of the Tourism & Entertainment sector.

DUTIES:

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct interviews in a professional and timely manner and obtain sign off from each interviewee as confirmation of interview completed.
  2. Submit interview data to the Lok Jack GSB Project Manager for verification.

  • CRITICAL THINKING: Ability to apply logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • JUDGEMENT AND DECISION-MAKING: Ability to consider relative costs and benefits of potential decisions and make the most appropriate choice.
  • PRIORITIZING: Ability to prioritize and use problem –solving skills to determine the best strategies in addressing student and client issues quickly and effectively.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Pursuing Bachelor degree in any Social Science area
  • 1-2 years of work  experience
