Position: Environment, Health & Safety Specialist 

Type: Contract 8-12 months, may extend further or convert to direct hire

Purpose: Ensure Environment, Health & Safety management systems are maintained to ensure a safe work place and compliance with policy and regulations.

 

 The successful candidate will be responsible for:

 

-      Assist in the development, maintenance, and implementation of a comprehensive Health and Safety Management System that parallels the OHSAS 18001 standard;

-      Assist with providing technical support, training and assistance with maintenance of Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) management systems and programmes;

-      Perform  periodic work site inspections and audits  of the Company’s procedures and equipment as they relate to EHS and reporting to the Manager EHS on recommendations for monitoring, control, and improvements to reduce risk and liability;

-      Assist with the coordination with departmental managers in the Transmission and Distribution and Production divisions in providing a schedule of monthly EHS meetings and attend these  meetings as needed;

 

Knowledge/Skills/Experience:

  • A four-year bachelor's degree in the field of engineering, safety or environmental or a related science and two years demonstrated experience in that field or a post-secondary degree/diploma and 7 or more years experience in the field of engineering, safety or environmental or related science with certification;
  • Experience in the implementation and management of ISO 14001 and/or OHSAS 18001 systems and programs is preferred; and experience in the power generation and/or electricity transmission & distribution industries is preferred

 

Salary:

-      Salary is from US$68,000 to US$92,000 per annum.
