Position Summary: The incumbent is responsible for inspecting, coordinating and performing electrical, automation and instrumentation maintenance activities (planned and unplanned) and projects. This will include fabrication, installation, inspection, testing, adjustment and repair of electronic, electro-mechanical, PLC and pneumatic control circuits and systems. |
Duties & Responsibilities: - Perform routine maintenance so that Machine failure for Electrical, Electronic, PLC and Automation issues are below 3% of department failure.
- Install, maintain and repair industrial control systems and power distribution systems including electric motors, motor control devices, pumps, compressors, variable speed drives and auxiliary equipment.
- Maintain instrumentation including analytical, flow, pressure and level transmitters.
- Maintain computer equipment including HMI software, programmable controllers, fibre networking and process systems.
- Install new equipment including conduit and wiring.
- Provide support to operations in running machines at centreline conditions, standard speeds, etc. to maximize efficiency and productivity. Assist with troubleshooting equipment issues.
- Address downtime issues promptly and effectively.
- Lead and/or participate with root cause analysis for operating problems including the identification of contributing causes for non-operating events and work to eliminate the root cause for continuous improvement.
- Troubleshoot electrical or control issues by reading logic in DCS, MDC, or PLCs.
- Troubleshoot issues related to paper machine coordinated drives.
- Maintain spares as needed to ensure that equipment is available when required.
- Effectively utilize and maintain the CWorks Plan Maintenance System, including following all computer based and paper processes for wok order completion and documentation.
- Responsible for preventative maintenance and calibrations to all electrical, instrumentation and process equipment.
- Maintain accurate equipment files such as maintenance and inventory logs, manuals, and blueprints.
- Operate and perform maintenance of hand tools, light, and heavy equipment.
- Carry out the preventive and proactive maintenance tasks diligently, on time and accurately.
- Provides information for the preventive maintenance database to reduce to zero reoccurrence of avoidable machine breakdowns and reporting any obstacles found when the execution is not efficient.
- Execute preventive and proactive maintenance to effectively protect the state of the assets assigned to the zone, by not only keeping maximum uptime on their functionality but also keeping integrity on the exterior state of the asset.
- Provide reports as when requested by Supervisor concerning maintenance issues and activities.
- Communicates equipment related downtimes and major breakdowns (exceeding 10 mins) to key stakeholders. Provide details of root cause of these as well as repairs required and timelines to address.
- Ensure equipment handovers (after PM, changeovers and repairs) are properly handed over (verbal and email) to the respective stakeholders.
- Demonstrate and maintain good housekeeping in the execution of maintenance activities.
- Demonstrate and maintain tools, spares, and other equipment with such care that they are not left lying in or on machinery, on the factory floor or generally out of place.
- Conforms to and enforces all established departmental and company policies, procedures and objectives, GMPs, food safety and HSE site protocols.
- Immediately report any non-conformances relating to maintenance operations to the Engineering Supervisor.
- Performs other related tasks and responsibilities as required by the Engineering Manager and/or Supervisor.
