Objectives

 

  • Help to develop and execute the Company’s Van Sales and Distribution plan for aggressive growth.
  • To attain or exceed monthly sales and gross profit targets by effectively leading the van sales team
  • To continuously increase the domestic market share of VEMCO’s products in the DTS channel at an aggressive rate as planned.
  • To provide overall management to Van Salesmen on and off the road in all assigned routes.

 

Key Areas of Responsibilities

  • To motivate, manage and assist the salesmen in attaining or exceeding monthly sales and gross profit quotas on their assigned routes.
  • Aggressively scan the market for potential customers and ensure service is provided.
  • Monitor and ensure that there is compliance on routes and outlets are serviced effectively and visited weekly or fortnightly for orders, to ensure good stock rotation, prevent out of stocks and maintain customer relationships. Important – salesmen need to maintain a schedule of visiting their customers, for example Customer A always visited on a Monday.
  • Generate sales monthly reports to monitor sales and distribution vs targets, send reports to Sales Manager.
  • Receive and manage all customer complaints from supervisors, salesmen and customer service, visit with salesmen if necessary to resolve the various issues once Supervisors cannot manage.
  • Supply product information, sell sheets, pricing, samples, POP and any other marketing items needed with support and assistance from the Marketing Team.
  • Determine suitable product mix of Vemco’s products are carried on the vans and are being sold into customers, while being visible and / or available on shelf.
  • Ensure Vans’ assist with placement of POP at stores, posters, shelf paper, shelf talkers and wobblers
  • Investigate and report any new and possible competitor entrants to the market and any competitor activity on the trade.
  • Supports and works with the Van Representatives on their routes
  • Supervisors provides feedback from customers and consumers on the performance of the company’s products, and the service provided by the Van Representatives
  • Identifies any opportunities for sales growth with new and existing customers
  • Manages vehicle dispatch sheet, timeliness of Vans’ departure and arrival time to Aranguez compound, also manages and maintain a log of salesmen and assistants arrival to work and days’ off.
  • Advise and ensure execution on any store specific promotions led by the Marketing Team, to be assisted by the Supervisors.
  • Completes stock checks periodically and monitor stock taking on the Vans, liaising with Inventory and Accounts.
  • Reports products with shelf life of 2 months or less damaged or out of stock (either in store or on Van) to Sales Manager.
  • Be aware of quality issues, document, and reports with follow up to ensure complete customer satisfaction with Supervisors.
  • DTS Manage and team will be required to work additional where needed to ensure completion of work and customer satisfaction, which may include weekends.
  • Track sales and update Van Supervisors and Reps on a weekly basis
  • Receive an update from Supervisors on the salesmen daily summary sheets for accounts. Supervisors need to ensure that all sheets balance and find overages or shortages where necessary, these daily stock checks are to be on a MINIMIUM of 15 items.
  • Liaise with Warehouse Manager to issue goods to Van Salesmen for goods required on short notice and also with respect to damages, Supervisors will also assist with this.
  • Liaise with Accounts, Inventory & Billing departments on matters relating to the vans, visit the office once a week and meet once a month with relevant Managers.
  • Manages the general maintenance of all sales vans and tracking schedule, all PO’s need to be actioned and sent in early for approval.
  • Liaise with Inventory and Accounts in preparation for stock check, also monitor stock check.
  • Ensure customer route listings are always current and updated as needed.
  • Determine the necessary meetings with Supervisors, Sales team and Marketing as required.
  • Work alongside Sales Manager & HR for Disciplinary actions, letters or meetings as needed.

 

Other responsibilities

 

  1. Ensure variety to customers is in keeping with company’s expectation, paying close attention to overstocking, damages and expiries.
  2. Complete fortnightly no service reports to the Sales and Distribution Manager.
  3. Monitors bounced cheques and ensure that all monies with respect to these cheques are collected on a timely basis.
  4. Spot check vans to ensure that goods are kept in good condition and vans are packed properly.
  5. Supervise general activity in yard as well as sales room.
  6. Assists with credit collections where necessary
  7. Ensure bill books and necessary stationery is available to Van Salesmen, e.g. Charge, cash, trade returns, factory returns, daily cash report pads, collection books, receipt books
  8. Work on sales truck at least once per week, training salesmen and assistant plus ensuring supervisors are out at least 4 days a week.
  9. Ensure that any changes made by Management and HR are executed.
  10. Maintain that all Vans work at least 3 Saturdays in December and work as needed.
  11. Work with Accounts and Payroll for commissions and incentives; follow up with either party if any issues are incurred.

 

Qualifications-

d. Should possess at least 3 O’ levels inclusive of Maths and English Language (Grades 1, 2 or 3)

e. Trade Experience is a MUST with a minimum of 5 years and in a Supervisory or Manager’s role for at least 2 years
