Experience and Skills | Minimum two (2) years experience in cleaning. Knowledge of standard methods, practices, tools, and equipment of the janitorial service. Ability to read and understand instructions particularly on the use and application of cleaning chemicals and products Ability to operate and use janitorial tools, equipment, vacuum cleaners, and cleaning compounds and solutions. |

Working Conditions
| Some jobs require an employee to be exposed to unpleasant and noxious fumes and odors. Some jobs require the employee to work with hazardous cleaning chemicals that can be harmful to a person’s health if not properly utilized. The condition of the washroom is often unpleasant. |
Physical Requirements | The job duties require an employee to bend or stretch sometimes in awkward positions, reach, stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects, operate medium weight cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, sweeping and mopping floors, moving desks and furniture. |
CUSTODIAN MAIN DUTIES:
Under general supervision, performs a variety of custodial duties to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of assigned rooms, buildings, and related facilities. Responsible for cleaning buildings, removing debris, vacuum floors, empties trash receptacles, replacing lining of trash cans and keeping areas neat and tidy.
Primary responsibilities, but not limited to:
- Sweeps, vacuums, and mops floors and stairways.
- Clean buildings by emptying trash, sweeping, and cleaning surfaces.
- Clean and disinfect equipment where required.
- Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.
- Use appropriate cleaning solutions to remove stains and clean surfaces.
- Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using required cleaning agents.
- Dust furniture and scrub surfaces clean.
- Clean and service restrooms as required.
- Identify and report possible repairs.
- Observes appearances and conditions of premises and equipment; reports needed repairs, safety hazards, or conditions requiring outside vendor services.
- Dusts such items as blinds, furniture, file cabinets, and windowsills using treated dust mittens, cloths, or hand-cleaning items.
- Scrubs, strips, sanitizes floors using powered machines equipped with rotating brushes.
- Polishes furniture, metal work, and chrome using appropriate cleaning and polishing compounds.
- Maintains an inventory of cleaning and toiletry supplies.
- Strict adherence to Servus Limited Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.
- Any other duties to be carried out as instructed by the Line Manager.
