Job Summary

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership and direction, as well as process efficiency within the Company’s Financial Accounting team and to ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial results to meet statutory, performance management and decision support requirements of the organization.

 

Key deliverables will include but not limited to:

  • Overseeing the accounting operations of the company, ensuring financial information is updated with completeness, accuracy and timeliness, ensuring quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
  • Overseeing the preparation of financial reports that summarize monthly/annual business activities and financial position in all areas of operation.
  • Ensuring timely account reconciliation of all key general ledger accounts.
  • Recommending changes to policies and procedures that will improve the financial performance and strengthen the internal controls of the company.
  • Ensuring that the company’s accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Coordinating the preparation of regulatory reporting to ensure compliance with government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Assisting CFO in providing leadership and coordination of company financial planning and budget management functions and to ensure annual budgets are uploaded into financial accounting software.
  • Providing timely reviews of the company’s financial performance, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Interfacing with auditors to complete annual financial audits and provide recommendations for procedural improvements.

 

Skills and Attributes:

  • Possesses sound and up-to-date knowledge of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Must have in-depth understanding of financial and accounting concepts with critical thinking skills.
  • Must be results driven, organized and possess a proven track record for process improvement, complex problem solving and follow through.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Accounting Software, e.g. AccPac.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics would be a distinct advantage.
  • Strong computer skills specifically in Advanced Excel, Advanced Word and PowerPoint.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

 

Qualification, Experience

  • Minimum first Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related discipline.
  • ACCA qualified or equivalent.
    • At least 7 years working experience at supervisory or management level.
  • Experience leading accounting department, especially month end processes.
