Our client, a key player within the cement industry both locally and internationally, requires a strong commercial sales leader with proven experience to manage its local operations in Montego Bay Jamaica, in the capacity of Business Manager.

Profile of candidate

The ideal candidate should possess demonstrated senior management experience in a comparable industry. Specifically the candidate should have:

• sound financial and commercial management skill;
• strategic leadership and planning skills with hands-on and result-oriented attitude;
• excellent negotiation and relationship management skills; and
• sound understanding of government policies and protocols in relation to business facilitation.

Core functions

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the regional  firm, the Business Manager will have the responsibility for the operational management of the Jamaica sub-region in relation to commercial sales management. Specifically, the successful candidate will be required to:

• provide leadership and direction to all employees;
• engage in contractual negotiations with key players, customers and other stakeholder groups;
• develop and implement strategies to enhance the company’s image and grow its customer base;
• keep abreast of the marketing environment the company operates in and propose marketing activities to drive sales;
• develop and implement business strategies to grow the business while increasing profitability;
• build and maintain business relationships with key stakeholder groups; and
• ensure the day-to-day operations of the company are conducted within set standards and guidelines.

Professional qualification

The successful candidate should possess:

• a Bachelor’s degree in Business or equivalent from a recognised institution;
• three to five (3-5) years managerial experience in a similar or equivalent industry;
• prior experience in Government or knowledge of Jamaica’s government  protocols in investment facilitation would be a distinct asset; and
• conversational or intermediate Spanish would be a distinct asset.
