The incumbent is expected to be part of a dynamic team of professionals, dedicated to providing an unparalleled level of service to our Broker base in order to ensure the sustainable growth and development of business for the Beacon.

KEY POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • To develop business through development of relationships and the Marketing of products across all customer of the Unit as assigned.
  • Provide timely quotations for all classes of business to Brokers and customers in keeping with the company's guidelines and approved Limits of Authority.
  • Bind Coverage for quotations provided and accept New Business for all classes of insurance in keeping with The Beacon’s guidelines and approved Limits of Authority.
  • Provide immediate Proof of Cover as may be required.
  • To Provide technical advice to Brokers and customers when necessary
  • To deliver all Policy and other Documents to Brokers and customers as required
  • To conduct risk surveys as required
  • Develop Business through improvement of relationships with Brokers and customers.
  • To assist with unallocated accounting queries and billing queries.
  • Timely response to all Unit queries and requests.
  • Handle queries that arise from customers concerning their accounts
  • To provide technical advice to Brokers and customers and Underwriters when necessary
KEY TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of the core principles of insurance and how this is applied on a day to day basis.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of the underwriting processes and procedures which is needed for new risks, alterations, renewals and/or cancellations to be processed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of the range of insurance products and services available in the market and how that knowledge can beused to meet client needs.
  • Sound knowledge of how claims should be handled and managed.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of the information gathering process, the factors that affect the acceptance and underwriting of risks and how these are applied on a day-to-day basis.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of the factors that affect the performance of an underwriting portfolio and how risk exposure can be monitored and controlled.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of five (5) CXC/CSEC passes including Math and English (minimum grade 2).
  • Certification in TTII State License AND/OR CII Certificate. 
  • Minimum of one (1) year insurance industry experience. 
  • Minimum of one (1) to six (6) years' insurance technical experience. 
  • Experience in dealing with external business clients.
