Business Development Officer

JOB SUMMARY: Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, this position is primarily responsible for identifying profitable business opportunities, developing and maintaining marketing strategies, advertising, organizing events, and coordinating marketing plans and promotional activities where necessary.

Duties include but not limited to the following:

  1. Conducts market research identifying new market segments, business opportunities and viable income streams whilst providing insight into product development and competitive positioning.

 

  1. Develop business development strategy for the organization

 

  1. Developing and sustaining solid relationships with company stakeholders and customers.

 

  1. Support the team engaged in tendering for new and existing business opportunities

 

  1. Assist with the development and negotiation of strategic partnerships to expand business operations

 

  1. Develops and implements marketing strategies and plans to meet set business targets.

 

  1. Develops marketing budgets

 

  1. Analyzing customer feedback data to determine whether customers are satisfied with company products and services.

 

  1. In conjunction with the Chief Operations Officer, manages the production of marketing materials

 

10. Assist with the development of methods for the generation of awareness through social media

 

11. Arrange for the effective distribution of marketing materials via various media

 

12. Source advertising opportunities and placing advertisements in traditional/online media

 

13. Organize and attend events that impacts the sector in which the organization operates; develops special events as required

14. Liaise with various other departments in the organization to ensure participation and collaboration in promotional activities

 

15. Works with the management team to develop / innovate products and services

 

16. Works with the Chief Operations Officer to develop marketing plans, which will focus on meeting organizational objectives.

 

17. Assist with the development and implementation of a company-wide go-to-market plan, working with relevant departments to execute.

 

18. Maintains relationship with clients of the organization to ensure that their needs can be met.

 

  1. Organising and managing customer database, by keeping all client information up to date and providing reports on relevant KPIs which must be met.

 

 

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations, Journalism or its equivalent from a recognized institution.

 

MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE Five (5) years professional experience in a Sales / Marketing, or Corporate Communications environment in the Energy or Oil & Gas Sector

 

SPECIAL ABILITIES AND APTITUDES

Excellent writing skills

Excellent verbal communication skills Networking, prospecting, public speaking and presentation skills

Computer literate

Knowledge of metrics and analytics and understanding of campaign effectiveness

Knowledge of social media marketing and website content management

Knowledge of PR, marketing and planning events

Knowledge of graphic arts will be an asset.
