The Bar Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the hotel's bar, ensuring exceptional customer service, efficient workflow, and adherence to quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Staff Management:

    • Recruit, train, and supervise bar staff, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver exceptional service.
    • Create staff schedules, assign duties, and conduct regular performance evaluations.
    • Foster a positive work environment and provide guidance and support to team members.
  2. Customer Service:

    • Greet guests, take orders, and ensure that drinks are prepared and served promptly and to the hotel's standards.
    • Handle guest inquiries, complaints, and feedback in a professional and courteous manner.
    • Anticipate guest needs and preferences to provide personalized service and enhance the overall guest experience.
  3. Inventory Management:

    • Monitor and manage bar inventory, including ordering supplies, conducting regular stocktakes, and minimizing waste.
    • Ensure proper storage and handling of perishable and non-perishable items.
    • Implement cost-saving measures and strategies to maximize profitability.
  4. Quality Control:

    • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and sanitation standards in the bar area, adhering to health and safety regulations.
    • Ensure that drinks are prepared and presented according to established recipes and standards.
    • Conduct regular quality checks to identify and address any issues or inconsistencies.
  5. Compliance:

    • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, including those related to alcohol service, health and safety, and hygiene.
    • Stay updated on changes to regulations and implement necessary changes to policies and procedures.
    • Train staff on compliance requirements and monitor adherence to policies.
  6. Budgeting and Financial Management:

    • Prepare and manage budgets for the bar department, including revenue and expense forecasting.
    • Monitor expenses and revenue streams, identifying areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
    • Implement strategies to maximize profitability while maintaining quality and service standards.
  7. Event Coordination:

    • Plan and coordinate special events, promotions, and themed nights in the bar.
    • Liaise with other hotel departments and external vendors to ensure successful event execution.
    • Promote events and activities to attract guests and drive sales.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Previous experience in a supervisory or management role in a bar or hospitality setting.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of bar operations, including beverage preparation, inventory management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Proficiency in computer systems and point-of-sale software.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Additional education or certification in hospitality management or a related field preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/move heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
  • Flexibility to work in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments.
