POSITION SUMMARY
The Biomedical Engineering Technician is required to perform and/or assist in the installation, calibration, inspection, preventive maintenance, safety testing and repair of biomedical and related technical equipment. Additional duties may include operation of equipment and equipment control and safety.
The successful candidate will display high attention to detail and accuracy in their work and have previous exposure in the maintenance of medical and/or electronic equipment.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Install or assist in the installation of new biomedical equipment by establishing, adjusting, calibrating, and testing performance.
Maintain biomedical equipment by completing preventive maintenance schedules; conducting tests; following manufacturer’s instructions; evaluating service contracts; maintaining equipment inventories.
Direct biomedical equipment operation by providing equipment operation demonstrations; instructing other health care staff in use and care of equipment; answering questions; providing information.
Improve biomedical equipment performance by studying machine-patient interaction; conferring with equipment users; developing modifications; collaborating with equipment manufacturers.
Maintain biomedical equipment supplies inventory by checking stock; anticipating needs; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
Prepare biomedical reports by collecting, analysing and summarizing information and trends.
Maintain safe and healthy working environment by conducting safety tests; recommending and complying with procedures; training and guiding medical and health care personnel; complying with codes.
