Attorney

To support the credit team in the maintenance of a healthy credit portfolio.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide legal advice and opinions.
• Review and draft contracts, promissory notes and other legal documents as may be necessary.
• Liaise with external Attorneys with respect to the litigation portfolio including the preparation of briefs for external counsel.
• Represent the department at various operational meetings.
• Assist with the preparation of  departmental reports,
• Represent the Company in the petty civil and or high court litigation.
• Performs other related work as may be required. 
• Consistently update all pertinent customer and account information into the system for the benefit of all. 
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports as required for review by Credit Management. 
• Ensure that internal and external customers consistently receive service that exceeds their expectation. 
• To perform any other reasonable and related duties as delegated from time to time by Management. 
• Supervise, coach and guide the staff of the recoveries department.

Education

1. Certificate in Legal Education
2. Bachelor of Laws degree (L.L.B) would be an asset
3. An attorney-at-Law admitted to practice law in Trinidad and Tobago would be an asset
4. Computer literacy

 Requisite Skills

1. Ability to work without close supervision
2. Good command of the English Language
3. Ability to communicate effectively, in both oral and written forms
4. Knowledge of operations in a Credit Environment
5. Legal Background would be an asset
6. Excellent interpersonal skills particularly tact and patience
7. Good time management skills
8. Honest with a high level of integrity
9. Ability to work in a high stress environment
10. Organized approach to tasks
11. Curious mentality
