Accounting Assistant 

Job overview: 

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of financial reporting and analysis within a dynamic Group of Companies. This role will primarily focus on providing comprehensive support to the Financial Controller and Group Financial Controller in various accounting tasks. This position will play a crucial role in supporting our Group Consolidation, Group Reporting, Holding Companies’ Accounting, and Treasury Management functions. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience across multiple revenue streams, including the hospitality division, investments division, and banking division. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:  

  • Prepare and post journal entries for general financial accounting.
  • Processes invoices for payment, ensuring the necessary approvals are attained.
  • Monitor banking activities and ensure compliance with financial policies.
  • Manage the fixed asset register, including properly accounting for fixed asset acquisitions, disposals and executing depreciation runs to accurately book monthly depreciation charges.
  • Perform account reconciliations and maintain intercompany transactions to efficiently track account activity.
  • Support in the preparation of monthly financial reports for senior management.
  • Engage in accounting research to support decision-making processes.
  • Prepare audit schedules and provide ongoing support for Group audits.
  • Contribute to the drafting of policies and mapping out accounting processes.
  • Assist in the implementation of accounting and reporting software.
  • Collaborate with other Group companies and provide financial assistance where required.
  • Handle routine administrative tasks, including filing and document organization.
  • Provide other assistance to the department where necessary, to meet the overall objectives of the department and the vision of the Group. 

Qualification requirements:

  • Pursuing ACCA, CPA, a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field (must have attained level one or completed year one).
  • At least one year’s work experience in an accounting environment will be an asset.

Skills:

  • Financial Acumen:
    • Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial concepts.
    • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare accurate reports.
    • Numerate, accurate with the ability to meet deadlines and targets. 
  • Technology Proficiency:
    • Familiarity with accounting software and Microsoft Office suite, especially Microsoft excel.
    • Ability to learn and adapt to new financial tools and technologies. 
  • Communication:
    • Strong and professional written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders. 
  • Analytical Skills:
    • Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Capacity to work with large datasets and extract meaningful insights. 
  • Team Player:
    • Willingness to learn and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
    • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
    • Flexible and adaptable to work in a busy environment.

 

Annual Salary:          $19,200 USD
