DUTIES & OBLIGATIONS

As Accountant under this Agreement, the Employee agrees that his/her duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Job Requirements:

  • Maintain an understanding of organizational goals, strategies and industry trends.
  • Understand the company's operating lines and actively work within a team to assess/pursue opportunities to serve clients/customers.
  • Report clear, concise and logical information in both verbal and written form to management of the company.
  • Identify and communicate performance improvement opportunities. Participates in workshops, trainings, etc. for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.
  • Lead by example, inspires trust, demonstrates personal integrity, adherence to the company's code of conduct, appreciation of diversity and promotes teamwork on all activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in carrying out quality accounting functions for the company.
  • Have a working knowledge of the company's Accounting Tools and software.
  • Demonstrate excellent knowledge of financial accounting concepts.
  • Carry out assigned accounting functions for the company.
  • Prepares asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
  • Recommends financial actions by analyzing accounting options.
  • Where necessary, interact and communicate with the company's clients/customers to ensure that the information flow to the accounting team to carry out functions is efficient and sufficient.
  • Assist with the supervision of the accounting team and review work done.
  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements and reports for management review.
  • Review the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivables and General Ledger functions.
  • Review of accounting procedures and internal controls on a routine basis, with appropriate recommendations.
  • Prepare audit schedules on a monthly basis and ensure year end audits are completed within stipulated deadlines.
  • Effectively prepare and review daily, weekly and monthly reports on a timely basis to meet the company objectives.
  • Assist with forecasting the weekly cash flows of the Company and its Subsidiaries
  • Having a working knowledge of international financial reporting standards.
  • Perform data entry for the company's transactions in the accounting software.
  • Generate, review and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded.
  • Record the relevant accruals and prepayments in the accounting system.
  • Record and maintain the company's inventory in the accounting system.
  • Record and maintain clients' fixed assets in the accounting system, including maintenance of the Fixed Assets Register.
  • Examine financial and accounting records, other documents, and tangible items such as plant and equipment.
  • Ensure that all relevant related party transactions are recorded in the accounting system.
  • Prepare reconciliations, schedules, reports, etc. and management reports and financial statements for the company in accordance with the relevant international standards.
  • Review reconciliation of all the bank accounts.
  • Assist with the preparation and filing of the various tax returns.
  • Assist with the calculations and preparation payroll and recording in the accounting system.
  • Assist with the preparation of requests made by external auditors.
  • Research, track and restore accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies.
  • Identify and communicate accounting matters to the Finance and Accounting Manager  and Senior Management.
  • Assist with the preparation of cash flow projections.
  • Prepare and submit requested reports.
  • Assist the Finance and Accounting Manager with the preparation of deliverables for management.
  • Perform any other duties assigned.

 Qualifications:

  • ACCA or CPA Certification with 1 year post certification experience OR
  • Level 3 ACCA Certification with at least 3 years experience OR
  • MBA or MSc. in a finance discipline with 2 years experience OR
  • BSc / BA in Accounting with 5 years’ experience in accounting or auditing
