ROLE & CORE FUNCTONS

The Systems Administrator will be responsible for maintaining the technical infrastructure required to support efficient business operations. In this role, the successful individual will protect our critical information, systems, and assets, build solutions, implement new software and hardware, provide training, and support the execution of an overall IT strategy.

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform installation, maintenance and optimization of workstations, servers, and peripherals
• Perform software installation, upgrades, and maintenance
• Create and manage user directories on the workstations/servers
• Analyse and resolve problems associated with hardware, operating system, and application software
• Maintain workstation / server operating system software such as: Windows and LINUX
• Daily monitoring of servers and applications; monitor workstations/server logs for errors and failures
• Perform backups and recovery as well as tape librarian functions
• Provide recommendations/specification for server, switches, routers
• Ensure device connectivity and communication between computers, providing a secured and reliable computer environment
• Database Administration with SQL Server and MySQL operating in Azure and on-premise
• Assist in providing training for users

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science (or equivalent qualifications)
• At least three years industry experience
• Excellent knowledge of TCP/IP networks, LAN, WAN implementations etc.
• Must have familiarity with NAT, Firewall, Proxy, +/or other security countermeasures.
• Experience with LAN operating systems (DESKTOP and SERVER)
• Experience with UNIX and LINUX would be an asset.
• Excellent communication skills, both written & oral
• Ability to work on one's own initiative.
