The Specialist Engineer – Enterprise Asset Management will be responsible for balancing and optimizing the appropriate performance levels, risk, opportunities and cost.

POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Specialist Engineer – Enterprise Asset Management will be responsible for balancing and optimizing the appropriate performance levels, risk, opportunities and cost. It includes the management of the whole life cycle (design, construction, commissioning, operating, maintaining, repairing, modifying, replacing and decommissioning and disposal) of physical and infrastructure assets and the systems used to operate and manage them.

The incumbent will support the workflows and capture the necessary data in the field for the Generation Division asset. Developing functional and technical resources at the department and plant level, support the people out in the field and provide a platform for data analytics. 

EDUCATION/SPECIALIZED TECHNIQUES

  1. Bachelors’ degree in Engineering - Electrical/Computer Engineering, Operational Technology, Operations Research or equivalent qualification.
  2. Advanced Mastery of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word).
  3. Project Management Certification (would be an asset)
  4. Asset Management Certification (would be an asset)
  5. Well-developed human, communication and industrial relations skills.
  6. Ability to troubleshoot, analyze and solve problems.
  7. Undertaking analysis and effectively providing insights. 

EXPERIENCE/LEARNED DISCIPLINE 

  1. 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role
  2. Knowledgeable in the maintenance and operation of power plants
  3. Knowledge and experience in the use of an EAM or CMMS
  4. Knowledge of the ISO55000, ISO55001 and ISO 55002 standards
  5. Sound knowledge of power station safety policies and procedures
  6. Knowledge of strategic planning and decision making techniques
  7. Working knowledge of JPS Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO) system
  8. Knowledge of Financial Analysis Techniques
  9. Knowledge of Risk Management Techniques
  10. Ability to use complex data to create charts, graphs and other analytic tools for the purpose of easy decision-making.
  11. Ability to identify anomalies from trends 

ELEMENTS OF MAJOR DUTIES 

  1. Development of written strategic asset management plans
  2. Development and implementation of a generation asset management system
  3.  Develop ISO 55001 compliance for the generation division if necessary
  4. Conduct periodic audits and gap analysis to determine the state of the generation asset management system
  5. Facilitate Training and Enterprise Asset Management Awareness Sessions throughout the Generation Division.
  6. Prepare and provide concise and effective asset related information to assist in executive level decision making.
  7. Assist in developing whole life cost of ownership for assets using graphs and charts.
  8. Project future cost of ownership for assets to aid in business decision making process
  9. Provide both written and verbal reports as required to undertake the duties of the position and as requested by the Director - GAMG.
  10. Liaise with department heads, IT personnel’s, engineers, specialist engineers and supervisors so as to gather information on assets that will aid in executive level decisions.
  11. Development of business cases related to asset management and optimization.
  12. Provide data for generation risk management processes
  13. Provides credible and accurate information on asset value, risks and contribution to the business.
  14. Keeps abreast of industry changes in the discipline of Asset Management techniques providing creative recommendations that would enhance performance of the Generation Enterprise Asset Management Group.
  15. Management of HAZOP Studies
  16. Development and implementation of a management of change system for changes in the operation or maintenance of plant equipment.
  17. Conduct Root Cause Failure Investigations
  18. Management of Asset Risk Register and manage the updating of Asset Health index for assets across the division.
  19. Communicate Asset Management and Performance Data through audio-visual mediums.
  20. Management of and compilation of forced and planned outage final reports.
  21. Maintain a repository of Asset information and Data across the Generation division
  22. Coordinate incident review meetings across the division
  23. Other duties as reasonably directed within skills, training and experience.
