Position Details

Title: Senior Instructor, Aviation Management, Aeronautics and General Education

JOB PURPOSE/SUMMARY

To provide operational and programme execution as well as supervision and functional direction to instructors and support staff.

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Teaching

  • Designs, develops and delivers aviation management, aeronautics and general education curricula for approved training programmes.
  • Organises, manages and delivers specific programmes/courses offered at UTT Aviation Campus.
  • Provides necessary leadership for the successful execution of the instructional process.
  • Maintains conformity to curriculum requirements and quality of delivery in keeping with Aviation Approved Training Organization and UTT’s standards.
  • Provides operational supervision and functional direction to Instructors and support staff.
  • Develops course materials, hand-outs, project assignments and examinations.
  • Instructs classes as required to complete courses within the specific time frame.
  • Assesses and grades student learning outcomes.
  • Provides regular and timely feedback to students.

 

Research

  • Conducts research in aviation management and related field, and uses findings to enhance and promote approved training courses and programmes.
  • Attends and makes presentations at conferences.
  • Stays current in the related discipline through involvement in professional organisations, maintenance of relationships with tertiary aviation institutions, participation in workshops, and operating Approved Maintenance Organizations (AMO), Approved Training Organizations (ATO) and Air Operator Certificate (AOC) processes.

Service

  • Participates in various committees at the University and serves the wider community, inclusive of government and industry, through workshops, seminars, public lectures, professional consulting, and career guidance services.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Postgraduate degree in Aviation Management with specialisations in Operations, Aeronautics, Aerospace, or Maintenance & Engineering
  • A minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in the Aviation Industry, with five years as a Trainer / Instructor in an Aviation Approved Training Organization or Tertiary Educational Institution
  • Human Factors Training
  • Level 3 Aircraft Familiarization Training in Large aircraft categories will be an asset.
  • Possession of an AMEL /PPL /CPL would be an asset
  • Experience with leading senior teams towards the achievement of organisational strategic objectives
  • Experience with leading entrepreneurial activities in the field of Aviation Management and training

 

COMPETENCIES

  • Sound knowledge (both theory and practice) in the subject field of Aviation Management

or Aeronautics, Aerospace or Maintenance and Engineering

  • Excellent presentation (oral and written) communication skills
  • Sound knowledge of creative and pedagogical skills
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional excellence and continued growth within subject field or discipline
  • Ability to keep abreast of advanced teaching methods, including the use of current and future technologies to support student learning and career objectives
  • Ability to function in an online environment
  • Ability to work with campus-based personnel and students
