Senior Database & Data Analytics Administrator
CORE FUNCTIONS
Assists the Manager – Database Systems in leading the Database Administrators by:
o Scheduling, guiding and monitoring the team’s daily support activities.
o Preparing weekly status on all projects and engagements.
• Assists the Manager – Database Systems in managing the implementation of database infrastructure in:
o Guiding the analysis of capacity requirements and designing the optimum environment configuration that meets the bank’s requirements.
o Ensuring recommended enhancement or a change to the production environment conforms to specifications and established standards.
• Develops and implements procedures for monitoring the banking environment and ensures that the highest level of security and integrity is maintained.
Prepares project plans, budget proposal, case documents, policy statement and standards, infrastructure schematics and training materials for use by or presentation to; senior management, team members, general staff or external parties.
• Participates in the analysis, evaluation and selection of appropriate database technology which meets the current and future needs of the bank’s database infrastructure.
• Develops and implements Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery procedures for the bank’s database and application suite infrastructure and participates in the quarterly review of the bank’s preparedness.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or related discipline from an accredited tertiary institution.
A minimum of three (3) years working experience in information technology in database administration, implementation, configuration and tuning, with two years supervisory experience
The following would be valuable assets:
• Training in Advanced UNIX system administration and tuning.
• Advanced Oracle, Informix and MS SQL Server database administration training.
• Formal training in Human Relations and Team Management.
• Training in Database Clustering and Grid Control
Certification requirements
• Oracle Certified Professional – Master level
• ITIL Intermediate Certification (preferably in Operational Support & Analysis)
• Microsoft Certified database Administrator (MCDBA)
• IBM Certified Systems Administrator for Informix DS version 10 and 11
