Reporting to the Head of Security, the Security Officer will be responsible for providing a commanding security presence at Excellent Prime Properties Limited and its affiliate locations in order to ensure and maintain a safe environment for all customers, tenants, employees and service providers.

REPORTS TO: Head of Security

LOCATION: All Locations

TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

 

POSITION OVERVIEW: 

Reporting to the Head of Security, the Security Officer will be responsible for providing a commanding security presence at Excellent Prime Properties Limited and its affiliate locations in order to ensure and maintain a safe environment for all customers, tenants, employees and service providers.

 

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Be visible at all times.
  • Exercise excellent observations skills in identifying any situation that may pose a risk to the safety and security of customers, tenants, employees and service providers.
  • Maintain surveillance and through excellent observant skills identify or detect suspicious behaviour that lead to loss or damage to company assets.
  • Detect, challenge and displace unwanted people which may include but not limited to loiters, and other individuals who may not have good intentions.
  • Excellent mediation skills in handling conflict situations; be able to determine the root of the issue and come up with solutions. Exercise neutrality without judgement on any party involved in the conflict situation.
  • Demonstrate initiative in providing a generally comfortable and pleasant environment, for example, observing spills on the floor, and be able to either deal directly with the situation or enlist the help of other key staff members (including Supervisors and Branch Managers, Maintenance, etc.) 
  • Monitor entrances and departures of customers, tenants, employees, service providers and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises. Inclusive of preforming random receipt and bags checks for paying and non-paying customers ensuring that items match the receipts as well as corresponding to date and time.
  • Follow Company procedures for various initiatives, including but not limited to fire prevention, property patrol, accident investigations etc.
  • Work with others in getting the job done – is reliable and dependable to support peers and co-workers.
  • Apprehension of perpetrators before the arrival of authorities.
  • Checking the bags of customers who have set off an alarm when leaving the store.
  • Demonstrate excellent deportment including verbal and non-verbal/body language and grooming – dress code must be followed at all times.
  • Provide assistance and be respectful to all in a courteous and professional manner, including: customers, colleagues, managers, tenants and service providers etc.
  • Excellent record of attendance and punctuality – follows regulations governing lateness and absenteeism.
  • Ensure professionalism at all times i.e., discouraging friends from visiting and chatting while on duty, discouraging idle chatter, no excessive phone calls, no cell phone use and no unbecoming behaviour.
  • Ensuring that the locking and unlocking the premises at the start and end of the day is done by branch managers and physically checked. In addition, ensuring that the alarm is set and functional at the end of day at close.
  • Adhere to all Company policies and procedures at all times
  • Accurate Reporting writing on disturbances or other notable situations that may have occurred on that day and submitting to Manager

 

Perform any other duties assigned by the Manager.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge/Experience

  • 3 CXC O’ Level passes including Math and English.
  • Minimum 2 years’ security experience.
  • Knowledge of security operations and procedures
  • First Aid Training would be considered an asset
  • Must provide Certificate of good character

  • Must be willing to work at any EPPL and its affiliate locations
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours inclusive of weekends and public holidays
