Security Officer

POSITION PROFILE

The Security Guard is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for employees, customers and visitors by enforcing security protocols patrolling within assigned areas. This role requires vigilant observation, quick response to incidents, professional and effective communication with individuals to mitigate risks, contain disturbance and prevent unauthorized access or criminal activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain order by identifying, deterring and reporting security risks, unauthorized persons, or suspicious activities.
• Respond to security breaches or emergencies promptly.
• Enforce access control procedures, including verifying credentials as appropriate.
• Grant access and exit to all legitimate persons entering and exiting the building.
• Escort unauthorized individuals off the premises as required.
• Respond to alarms, disturbances, or incidents, such as thefts, accidents, or medical emergencies and report disruptions to management.
• Maintain accurate records of security incidents, visitor logs, and report any irregularities or safety hazards to management as soon as practical.
• Collaborate with law enforcement agencies, emergency responders and other security personnel to coordinate responses to security threats or crisis situations.
• Provide assistance and support to employees, customers and visitors, including directing foot traffic, providing information, and offering assistance during emergencies.
• Monitor and ensure orderly parking at the front entrance of 58 Half Way Tree Road.
• Patrol the building at the end of each day to conduct routine inspections of doors, windows and other access points to ensure they are properly secured and report any maintenance or safety concerns to management.
• Brief the incoming security guard on any issues at the shift change.
• Activate and disarm the security system as required.
• Participate in training programs and drills to enhance security awareness, emergency preparedness and response capabilities.
