The Investment Officer provides strong support to the Investment Manager in effective investment portfolio management and organisation, knowledge and analysis of financial markets, investment and foreign exchange products, hedging and strategic risk analysis.

 SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE:

  1.  Perform in-depth analysis of financial statements, market trends, and industry dynamics to evaluate investment risks and potential returns.
  2. Conduct industry surveillance to monitor financial and economic landscape and advise of potential adverse changes in economic indicators.
  3. Monitor portfolio performance, track key performance indicators and provide regular updates to the Investment manager.
  4. Collaborate with Investment manager to develop investment strategies and portfolio allocation plans.
  5. Seek investment opportunities and initiate the utilization of “excess” funds.
  6. Prepare investment reports, presentations, and recommendations for the Investment manager.
  7. Analyze and evaluate investment opportunities, make recommendations, and develop investment proposals.
  8. Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the regulatory and legal landscape in the securities markets.
  9. Reconcile investment accounts, investigate, and address variances and maintenance records.
  10. Prepare information on investments for annual external audit.
  11. Conduct the preliminary review of the Investment Policy and guidelines for the Group.
  12. Reconcile various fiscal statements, ensure accurate fund accounting, match financial statements with cash amounts, initiate account transfers and other transactions as needed.
  13. Monitor financial management of foreign operations including developing financial and budget policies and procedures.
  14. Manage workflow to ensure a smooth and efficient routine operation.
  15. Identify suspicious activity and suspicious persons and notify the Investment Manager and Executive Manager Finance and Investments on a timely basis.
  16.  Contribute positively to ensure that the Group is profitably managed with the targets, ensure that financial ratios and results set and approved in the Business Plan for the Investment function met or exceeded.
  17. Ensure effective and profitable Group funds management (cash, investments, trade in foreign currencies) with any negative variance not exceeding 10% of targets set.
  18. Ensure that the Investment function receives a satisfactory or better Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB)/Audit Rating.

  EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  1. At least a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Actuarial Science or a similar related quantitative field.
  2. A minimum of three years’ relevant work experience.
  3. Working knowledge of Core Director System would be an asset.
  4. General understanding of international financial markets and the economies of the Caribbean.
  5. Technical skills, including ability to work with databases and Microsoft Suite, including MS Word, EXCEL, and PowerPoint.
  6. Sound knowledge of the relevant local and international laws and regulations governing international finance and investment banking.
