Job Description – IT Technician

• Troubleshoot hardware, software and network operating systems such as Microsoft Server and Linux Red Hat/CentOS/Ubuntu.
• Maintain current and accurate inventory of technology hardware, software and other networking resources.
• Troubleshoot and Maintain WLAN and WiFi networks.
• Troubleshoot and Maintain AD, DHCP, FS, DB, Email, DNS, Antivirus architecture.
• Prepare network drawings for implementation of major changes.
• Maintain log and/or list of required repairs and maintenance.
• Make recommendations about purchase of computer and networking resources.
• Install and repair CAT6 cabling and fiber cabling.
• Work in a tidy manner and respect server room policy.
• Provide network access to all staff.
• Install workstations.
• Connect and set up hardware.
• Keep software and operating systems up to date.
• Troubleshoot LAN/WAN issues.
• Monitor network resources for faults and outages.
• Maintain IP address assignments.
• Advise staff of security breach and/or change in password or security status.
• Identify and prepare hardware for disposal when appropriate.
• Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
• Perform other technical related duties as required by your manager/supervisor.
  
  

Minimum Requirements:

Associate level degree or equivalent certifications.

2 years experience in the field of IT is preferred.

Experience with Microsoft operating systems and office suite.

Experience with Linux operating systems.

Experience with routers, switches, and WiFi.

Experience with the IP protocol and other networking related protocols.

Experience with cable test tools.

Availability to respond to network outages during nights and weekends if necessary.
