IT/Network Engineer

The N.E. will be responsible for IT and R&S architecture and network security. This includes IP address and L3 protocol management, server environment, firewall and VPN audits, L2 topology maintenance. The N.E. will also report network trends, outages, statistics and vulnerabilities to the CTO.

Job Description – IT/Network Engineer

• Troubleshoot and maintain LAN and WAN architectures.
• Maintain current and accurate inventory of technology hardware and software resources.
• Prepare network drawings for implementation of major changes.
• Maintain log and/or list of required repairs and maintenance.
• Make recommendations about purchase of networking resources.
• Install and repair CAT6 cabling and fiber cabling.
• Work in a tidy manner and respect server room policy.
• IP Services and IP address management.
• Troubleshoot and Maintain WLAN and WiFi networks.
• Troubleshoot WAN links and routing tables.
• Configure and troubleshoot microwave and last mile radios.
• Troubleshoot switching and routing issues.
• Maintain/Improve network security and firewall policies.
• Maintain log and/or list of required repairs and maintenance.
• Make recommendations about purchase of hardware resources.
• Use packet tracing tools to identify networking protocol issues.
• Connect and set up hardware/software.
• Install server OS updates and packages.
• Monitor network for faults and outages.
• Advise staff of security breach and/or change in password or security policies.
• Identify and prepare hardware for disposal when appropriate.
• Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
• Perform other technical related duties as required by your manager/supervisor.
  
  

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor level degree or equivalent certifications.

4 years experience in the field of routing and switching is preferred.

Experience with Cisco and Juniper equipment.

Experience with various operating systems used in telecom.

Experience with microwave and wireless links.

Experience with fiber line technology.

Experience with IP protocol analyzers and other network troubleshooting tools.

Availability to respond to network outages during nights and weekends if necessary.
