HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER

JOB OBJECTIVE
The Human Resources (HR) Manager plans, administers, co-ordinates and reviews the functions of the Human Resource Department in keeping with the company’s objectives.  Makes sound recommendations and decisions that will facilitate continuous improvement and the achievement of objectives and goals. In the capacity of Head of Department it is expected that leadership and development of staff members will be demonstrated. 


KEY FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Develop strategies, policies, and programs to optimize HR function.
  • Manage recruitment and selection processes.
  • Oversee manpower planning, employee development, and succession planning.
  • Execute recruitment activities, including special employment programs.
  • Ensure fair disciplinary actions aligned with company policies and local legislation.
  • Review and recommend annual compensation packages.
  • Evaluate and enhance Group Health and Life benefits.
  • Design and monitor employee welfare programs.
  • Administer social initiatives like Christmas Treats and Scholarships.
  • Provide expert advice to Managers/Supervisors and other leaders.
  • Support strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Craft and manage the HR department’s budget.
  • Ensure the effectiveness of a comprehensive performance management system.
  • Organize and conduct appropriate training for employees at different levels.
  • Develop creative methods of motivating and rewarding employees.
  • Perform other duties as may be required.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or in a related discipline.
  • At least five (5) years’ experience working as an HR professional with at least three (3) years' experience at the management level. 


REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

  • Proficiency in the principles and application of :-
    • Human Resources Management & Development 
    • Industrial Relations  
    • Jamaican Labour Laws
  • Proficiency in the use of computer software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint - Good supervisory and motivational skills
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent Customer Service skills
  • Excellent negotiating skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and without constant supervision
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Ability at planning and coordinating activities
  • Ability to demonstrate tact, confidentiality and professionalism in the execution of duties.
