HEALTH, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER VACANCY

 

A reputable company is seeking to recruit a suitable candidate for the position of Health, Safety, & Environmental Engineer.

Description

Responsible for providing and maintaining safe working conditions on the construction site, by coordinating, planning and implementation health, safety and environmental standards. 

Responsibilities & duties include but are not limited to: 

  • Implement and maintain Health, Safety and Environmental systems and regulations
  • Compile occupational health and safety plans for approval by consultants
  • Prepare all documentation required for environmental permits
  • Prepare and implement HSE Training Plans
  • Ensure construction teams are aware of the environmental and safety policies
  • Perform risk assessments, safety and environmental inspections
  • Prepare Inspection reports and registers
  • Preform audits for clients and produce audit reports
  • Suggest proposals for corrective or preventive measures
  • Investigate accidents and submit accident reports
  • Ensure regular emergency responses are effective and ensure construction teams are prepared at all times and aware of the response procedures
  • Serve as a liaison with local agencies and officials on issues pertaining to HSE program requirements 

Requirements:

  • Over 5 years working experience in construction especially field experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health, Safety and the Environment
  • Safety and Environmental Auditing Certification would be an asset
  • Working knowledge of The Jamaican Factories Act, Environmental laws, legal codes and government regulations
  • Working knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Act
  • Knowledgeable of ISO system and standards
  • Audit experience
  • Highly responsive with strong organizational, communication and influencing skills
  • Ability to work on weekends
  • First Aid certified
  • Knowledgeable of Technical Specifications and Standards
