The Finance Manager has the main role of supporting the Director in managing all areas of business administration, finance, and risk management.

Job Summary:

Reporting directly to the School Director and by extension the Board of Directors, the Finance Manager holds a significant leadership position in the School. The Finance Manager has the main role of supporting the Director in managing all areas of business administration, finance, and risk management. The Finance Manager has the responsibility for ensuring that the financial services of the School are conducted efficiently and ethically in accordance with established standards and that all statutory and compliance obligations are met.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily workflow of the department.

  • Supervise all employees within the Business Office.

  • Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations.  

  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director. 

  • Procurement and Contract Administration.

  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for the Business Office.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Advise the Director on efficient Business Operations for the School.

  • Responsible for the daily management of the accounting function in the Business Office.

  • Be an active part of the ISPS Leadership Team. Act as an agent of change to improve culture.

  • Ensure that the purchasing operations of the school meet national and international standards.

  • Manage the monthly financial close process and preparation of financial reporting deliverables to the Board of Directors. Attend Finance Sub Committee Meetings.

  • Perform financial management duties including generating and analyzing financial data as and when required.

  • Provide financial analytical support for negotiations of contracts and agreements; assist with preparation and review of significant contracts and agreements. 

  • Prepare annual Financial Statements in accordance with IFRS and manage the year-end financial close process and relationship with independent auditors to improve audit efficiency.

  • Create strategic financial plans based on the analysis of the company’s status and financial forecasts.

  • Ensure accuracy in the company’s payroll and relevant statutory remittances. 

  • Compute and remit relevant corporation taxes in a timely manner, and oversee the preparation and accuracy of the annual corporation tax return.

  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) and manage a team that works closely with the business to understand, evaluate, and influence performance. 

  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Director.

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

  • In-depth knowledge of tax regulations.

  • Financial reporting and analysis.

  • Integrity and ability to uphold confidentiality.

  • Excellent communication skills, keen attention to detail, a good motivator, and ability to collaborate with various levels and across organizational boundaries.

  • Well-organized and structured with strong analytical, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) qualification with at least 5 years post-qualification experience in a similar role or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance with at least 10 years’ experience in accounting and finance.
