POSITION SUMMARY:

The Fabrication and Finishing Technician is responsible for maintaining buildings, venues, steel structure frames, vehicles, trams, pier, signs, and surfaces. This position specializes in restorations of steel, fiberglass, stainless steel, galvanize metal, mild steel and various type of applications like gel coat, epoxy materials and more. The Fabrication and Finishing Technician requires knowledge and experience of welding, cutting, fabrication, grinding, buffing, mixing and thinning paint for various type of surfaces, including the pier. Flexibility to work day and night shifts is required for this role.

All duties and responsibilities are performed following Royal Caribbean International's Brand Standards, the Royal Way philosophy, Company policies, and SOPs, Public Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental Guidelines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepares surfaces in advance of painting by, sandblasting, pressure washing, scraping, and cleaning.
• Measures and calculates materials needed and appropriate quantities.
• Removes old layers of paint from surfaces without destroying them.
• Showcases expertise in selecting optimal paint, pigments, and painting techniques for intricate tasks, leveraging specialized knowledge.
• Uses manlift, scaffold, pressure washers, sand blaster and ladders to various work orders. Conducts equipment repairs.
• Reads work orders and maintains records of production status for communication with Supervisor.
• Uses clear, concise, and professional communication in person, over the radio, and in written format.
• Demonstrates effective teamwork and collaboration, and time management skills.
• Maintains an orderly and clean work area, with all tools in good repair.
• Adheres to all Company policies regarding PPE and Chemical Management.
• Ensure that all safety standards are maintained throughout each job.
• Safely dispose of all waste that's generated during this process.
• Sets up and closes working areas as per schedule or as instructed by the Management Team.
• Participates in trainings and meetings. Adheres to a Company confidentiality agreement.
• Follows the destination's grooming standards. Ensures personal appearance, hygiene, and uniform appearance are always in accordance with Company policy. Maintains a safe and sanitary environment for Guests and the Team.
• Acknowledges and greets Guests, Visitors, and Team Members in public spaces with a warm, friendly greeting.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A High School Diploma or basic education equivalency. NACE Certification, Similar or Equivalent is preferred.
• Experience in using ladders, scaffolding, manlift, pressure washers, sand blaster.
• Advanced fabrication, finishing and decorating skills of various surfaces: wood, steel, metal, fiber glass, plastic and concrete surfaces.
• Knowledge and experience of welding, cutting, grinding, buffing, mixing and thinning paint for various type of surfaces, including the pier.
• Experience within a cruise ship environment in the technical environment is preferred.
• Formal training in industrial fabrication and finishing is preferred.
• Specialized knowledge of industrial painting techniques and tools.
• Valid license or certificate(s) in the area of technical specialty are required.
• Good interpersonal skills to communicate with all levels of Management and Team Members.
• Ability to work positively and cooperatively in a diverse international environment.
• Ability to maintain focus, work with strict deadlines, multitask and be flexible and adaptable.
