The Bermuda Police Service is currently inviting applications from suitably qualified serving police constables to join our Service for a contractual period of five years. Applicants must hold a current designation as an Authorised Firearms Officer (AFO) and currently working in a Firearm Tactical Unit or have worked in a Firearms Tactical Unit within the last 12 months.  Applicant must be willing to serve voluntarily as an AFO whilst employed by the Bermuda Police Service.  Proof of designation must be provided at the time of the application. Additionally, applicants will be predominately involved in routine patrol duties, answering calls for service. Qualified applicants will be invited to attend an assessment interview with senior officers. All applicants must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

 

Additional Requirements;

 

Candidates must;

  • Not have attained the age of 49 at the start of the contractual period
  • Have a minimum of five years of continuous Service in a  Caribbean and or Overseas territory police force 
  • Have good physical and mental health, and provide medical and dental fitness certificates, Training Records and certified performance or appraisal records from the past 2 years. (submit with application)
  • Not subject to any Professional Standards matter, Performance matter and/or sanction within the past 3 years
  • Have current Firearms Authorization or had designation within last 12 months
  • Must have a current shooting assessment and certified proof of passing such for the last 18 months
  • Must possess a valid driver’s licence
  • Must pass BPS local Firearms Training Course
  • Must be able to pass the Job Related Fitness Test (JRFT) at Level 8

 

Benefits

Starting salary commences at BD$84.666.74 per annum. The Bermuda dollar is on par with the US dollar. Other benefits include single-quarters accommodation at minimum rent, 24-day annual leave entitlement, medical and dental coverage and free travel expenses at half contract and end of the contract.
