Job Summary
The Medical Imaging Technician is a certified technician who is required to capture images of organs, bones and tissues for patient diagnosis. The incumbent must be equipped with the technological skills to handle imaging equipment and the interpersonal skills necessary for patient care.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assess patients and their clinical requirements to determine appropriate radiographic techniques.
Interact with patients to offer them psychological support and address their concerns regarding an imaging procedure.
Perform a range of radiographic examinations on patients to produce high-quality images.
Observe and maintain contact with patients during their waiting, examination, and post-examination stay in the department.
Take responsibility for radiation safety in the work area, including checking equipment for malfunctions/errors, managing referrals to ensure patients receive a radiation dose as low as reasonably possible, and safely supervising visiting staff and patients in radiation work areas.
Assist in more complex radiological examinations working with doctors such as radiologists, gynaecologists, and surgeons.
Pay close attention to detail, such as annotating images correctly to prevent errors, and complete documentation quickly and accurately.
Inspect on a scheduled basis at a minimum the diagnostic equipment to ensure they are functional and operates efficiently
Maintain consumable stocks and replenish from stores as required.
Maintain proper records of patient details, ensuring confidentiality of sensitive information.
Perform all duties in conformance with appropriate quality, health, safety, security, and environmental policies and procedures.
Perform any other related duties as required by the job function.
Minimum Education and Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in Radiological Sciences from a recognised, accredited institution.
Registered with the Radiographers Board of Trinidad and Tobago/The Council for Professionals Related to Medicine.
Experience
- Minimum of four (4) years’ relevant experience working in a clinical environment.
Or any equivalent combination of qualifications and experience
