Role Overview
The Information Technology Administrator is responsible for the implementation, maintenance, support, and security of the Company's IT systems, networks, and technology services. The successful candidate will ensure reliable system performance, provide user support, maintain IT assets, and assist with technology projects while ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
System Administration:
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows operating systems for PCs and servers, including Windows Server environments.
- Perform scheduled maintenance, updates, and backups in line with approved IT policies.
- Provide support for Linux systems and mobile devices where required.
Network Management:
- Monitor, secure, and maintain wired and wireless network infrastructure across the organization.
- Configure and troubleshoot routers, switches, wireless access points, and network cabling.
- Set up and manage firewalls, VPN connections, and basic network segmentation.
- Ensure all networking equipment is operating within the framework of defined IT policies and security protocols.
Technical Support:
- Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for hardware, software, and network-related issues.
- Troubleshoot PCs, printers, office applications, and connectivity problems.
- Respond to user requests and ensure timely resolution of technical issues.
Security and Compliance:
- Enforce basic cybersecurity practices, including password policies, regular updates, and antivirus management.
- Monitor systems for signs of unauthorized access, outdated software, or vulnerabilities, and take corrective action.
- Ensure implementation and compliance with all IT related policies, including backup policies, acceptable use policies, and system access controls.
- Support adherence to relevant data protection and cybersecurity regulations (e.g. Data Protection Act, The Cybercrimes Act, Access to Information Act, etc.).
Asset and Documentation Management:
- Maintain accurate records of IT hardware, software, licenses, and related assets.
- Track equipment assignments, maintenance, and disposal.
- Maintain system documentation, network diagrams, procedures, and disaster recovery records.
Projects and General Duties:
- Assist with IT projects, upgrades, deployments, and infrastructure improvements.
- Coordinate with vendors and service providers when required.
- Perform other IT-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate degree or higher in Information Technology, Computer Systems, or a related field.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in IT support, networking, and/or systems administration.
- Experience administering Windows desktop and Windows Server environments.
- Working knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and file/print services.
- Experience configuring and supporting LAN/WAN networks, firewalls, VPNs, switches, routers, and wireless access points.
- Strong troubleshooting, organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity fundamentals, including patch management, endpoint protection, and access controls.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred candidates may possess one or more of the following industry certifications:
- CompTIA A+ (Computer Technology Industry Association – Core Hardware and Software Support)
- CompTIA Network+ (Networking Fundamentals and Troubleshooting)
- CompTIA Security+ (Entry-Level Cybersecurity Certification)
- CCST (Cisco Certified Network Support Technician – Routing, Switching, and Network Security) or UFSP (Unifi Full Stack Professional) or higher certification.
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g. VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud platforms (e.g. Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud) is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of or understanding of legal and compliance frameworks (e.g. Data Protection Act (DPA), The Cybercrimes Act, Access to Information Act (ATI)) is beneficial but not required.
Additional Requirements:
- Must hold a valid driver’s license as the role requires travel to various company sites when necessary.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and move IT equipment when required.
- Willingness to work outside normal business hours during emergencies or scheduled maintenance activities.
- Ability to successfully complete background verification and security screening.
