Duties & Responsibilities: - Coordinates all production operations and activities, to ensure the highest level of productivity and efficiency to ensure production KPIs and targets are achieved.
- Coordinating and reporting day-to-day activities with the Production Manager.
- Assisting with the Production Planning process to ensure Production Plans are prepared, shared and executed as per schedule, within budget and in alignment with Sales requirements (VPGs) whilst ensuring economic and efficient runs.
- Ensures the efficient execution of the production plan by providing support with assigning manpower, accomplishing work results, ensuring material and storage availability, determining priorities, back-up plans, monitoring progress, resolving problems and reporting results on shift production summaries.
- Coordinates planned downtime to ensure scheduled time (cleaning, changeovers, training and/or line set up efficiency etc.) is adhered to/minimized.
- Ensure the production team is aware of day-to-day targets, KPIs and responsibilities.
- Supervises the Production Supervisory Team, day-to-day operations and monitors workflow to ensure efficiency and target achievement.
- Accomplishes results by communicating job expectations; preparing and conducting Performance Appraisals; coaching, counselling, and disciplining employees; and initiating and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
- Maintains workflow by monitoring and upgrading processes, observing control points and equipment, monitoring personnel and resources, implementing cost reductions, developing reporting procedures and systems, and initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
- Ensures the required Materials Requisitions, Material Returns, Production Transfers, Batch Cards, Production Checklists, Notes for Rejections, floor stock, tank dips, re-work logs, inventory documents and all production googles sheets are accurately completed and submitted as per stipulated timelines.
- Maintains safe, sanitary and clean work environment.
- Sensitize / train staff on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources, and maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Maintains a high degree of visibility and access to production employees throughout the workday;
- Monitoring, managing and recording of production floor stock, re-work, rejections, waste items for disposition in alignment with QA recommendations to minimize rejections and variances.
- Performing daily inspections of the production plants to ensure plants are maintained in a clean, safe & sanitary condition.
- Perform administrative functions such as developing and maintaining department databases / google sheets, prepare production reports, and the develop SOPs and checklists and draft and distribute disciplinary letters.
- Conforms to all established departmental & company policies, procedures & objectives, fulfils the requirements of CGA Ltd.’s SQF Program including but not limited to GMPs, PPE, HACCP, food safety & HSE site protocols.
- Managing, evaluating and reporting on Production productivity and key performance indicators.
- Be on call (as required) to provide support to all planned production shifts. Ensure designated alternates are in place as required.
- Maintains production staff by orienting and training employees.
- Collaborate with Operations, HSE and Quality teams to develop and/or revise and implement production policies, checklists, work instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Conduct detailed investigations into production related non-conformances, prepare reports, inclusive of corrective actions.
- Addressing any production disputes and diverting the urgent ones to the Production Manager
- Immediately communicates production related downtimes, critical non-conformances and major breakdowns (exceeding 30 mins) to the Production Manager, CPO and key stakeholders.
- Assists with tracking and managing of departmental expenses to minimize departmental costs, including overtime.
- Performs other related tasks and responsibilities as required by the Production Manager;
