MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for preparing and implementing the maintenance program/plan for the plant’s property, building, equipment, grounds and other related maintenance activities. He or she performs general electrical, plumbing, building servicing/repairs, analysis, negotiates with prospective suppliers’ and performs administrative duties. The Maintenance Technician also conducts training for trainees.
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:
ü NVQ-J Level 3 Certification in disciplines such as Engineering, Facilities Administration, Electrical Installation or Property Management
ü At least three (3) year’s relevant work experience in a comparable position and business/work environment such as school plant management, facilities management, engineering company and property management company

ü Good Electrical and Mechanical skills
ü Good Written and Oral Communication skills
KEY DUTIES:
ü Checks buildings, grounds, equipment and machinery for problems and takes necessary corrective action
ü Performs minor/routine repairs of building, plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems including replacing worn or defective parts such as switches, fuses, and valves
ü Checks and records utility readings as scheduled to determine actual electricity consumption
ü Treats all maintenance requests with urgency and providing feedback on completion
ü Prepares and submit estimates for materials and equipment and assists with the sourcing
ü Completes job sheets to determine usage of materials and time work
ü Maintains accurate records of maintenance activities, updating log and preparing reports in accordance with established procedures and timeframe
ü Maintains inventory of tools equipment and materials in the department.
ü Ensures adherence to safety regulations at all times and in all areas and takes corrective actions when necessary
ü Assists in the preparation of maintenance budget
ü Reports accidents and hazardous situations promptly
ü Ensures adherence to established standards by local, international, and industry certifying organizations (Green Globe, Ministry of Health, TDPCo and SHIP, etc.)
ü Sets-up public address system and arranges adequate power supply for functions
