Overview: Our client is a regional group of companies which manufactures, distributes, and retails paint, accessories and high-performance coatings across the Caribbean region. Due to growth, they are seeking to engage a strategic professional in the Barbados office.

Objectives and purpose of the job:

  • To perform a variety of accounting and clerical tasks related to accounts receivables, inventory, accounts payables, general ledger and fixed asset management; ensuring that all aspects of the Finance function are carried out in a correct and efficient manner.

 

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Manage daily inventory procedures including receipting, transfers, stock consumption, and stock takes.
  • Reconcile inventory sub-ledgers with the general ledger.
  • Cost raw materials and non-manufactured goods in Sage 300 Inventory Control.
  • Process stock adjustments and maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Reconcile production and inventory clearing accounts.
  • Record and maintain financial transactions in Sage 300.
  • Maintain accurate financial files and records.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliation reports.
  • Process accounts receivable activities accurately and on time.
  • Reconcile accounts and monitor outstanding debts.
  • Prepare weekly collections and receivables reports.
  • Supervise recording of charges, receipts, adjustments, and payments.
  • Balance subsidiary ledgers and controlling accounts.
  • Prepare and maintain financial and management reports.
  • Manage month-end closing processes and ensure timely reporting.
  • Prepare income statements, balance sheets, and supporting cost reports.
  • Maintain organized paper and electronic filing systems.
  • Assist external auditors with annual audits and required reports.
  • Prepare statutory and statistical reports.
  • Assist with payroll, PAYE, and National Insurance reconciliations.
  • Reconcile payroll general ledger accounts monthly.
  • Monitor accounts receivable balances and customer statements.
  • Assist with petty cash management and daily cash deposits.
  • Oversee daily deposit reconciliations.
  • Follow ISO Business Management System procedures and company policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial and company information.
  • Perform any other related duties assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with at least ACCA Level 2 and 6 years’ accounting experience  
  • -OR
  • Completion of ACCA or another accounting designation with at least 3 years’ accounting experience.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships.
  • Strong analytical and time management skills.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and achieve results.
  • Knowledge of computerized accounting systems.
  • Experience using ACCPAC/Sage 300.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
