JOB SUMMARY

To build and sustain sound relationships among Agency stakeholders through planned public education campaigns and public relations activities designed to improve the Agency's public image, inform the public, and support the strategy of maintaining and managing its reputation.

KEY OUTPUTS

 PERFORMANCE CRITERIA

  •  Public Relations activities and events are planned and executed efficiently and effectively and with maximum impact.
  • Public Relations documents are evidence-based ,accurate and produced in agreed timeframes. Tact,diplomacy, sensitivity and professionalism are exhibited in interacting with the public and media.
  • Positive community relations are fostered through public relations programmes.
  • Technical advice and recommendat ions provided are sound and supported by qualitative/quantitative data.
  • Reports are evidence-based.
  • Confidentiality, integrity and professionalism displayed in the delivery of duties and interaction with staff.
  • Accuracy and informativeness of public education material developed.
  • Timeliness of public advisories
  • Partnerships built for seminars, workshops,  expeditions etc. The accuracy of records and reports

 

NORMAL WORKING HOURS

Monday to Thursday - 8:30 - 5:00

Friday - 8:30 - 4:00

WORK ENVIRONMENT             

Normal office conditions and will be required to travel

Will be required to work beyond normal working hours; will be required to travel

LIAISES WITH

Internally: Executives, Managers, Audit  Unit, Supervisors and other internal stakeholders

Externally: Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce Media Houses, Accounting and Legal professionals Chartered Secretaries, Customers, General  Public

 JOB DUTIES

In consultation with the Manager, Corporate Communication, plans, coordinates and executes Public Relations activities and events to promote a positive image of the Agency.

  • Develop PR strategies, campaigns, and initiatives to improve public perception of the COJ.
  • Provide logistical coordination and on-site support for all Agency- related events island-wide from concept to completion.
  • Respond to enquiries from the public, media and other organizations.
  • Proofreads print and broadcast copies of communication for grammatical and typographical errors. Organizes and represents the Agency at events including press conferences and launches,exhibitions, open days, functions and press tours.
  • Partner with the Digital Marketing Officer to coordinate Social Media campaigns and promote and update website.
  • Participate in the design (ie: Facebook Timeline cover, profile picture, thumbnails, ads, landing pages, Twitter profile,lnstagram, and blog) and managing promotions and social ad campaigns.
  • Partners with Graphic Designer in creating, curating, and managing all published content (images, videos and written).
  • Plans and execute internal and external opinion surveys.
  • Monitor the print, electronic and news media, and develop strategies for dealing with topical issues relevant to the area of responsibility.

 KEY COMPENTENCIES

  •  Good knowledge of the COJ's business including the Companies Act and the Registration of Business Names Act.
  • Good knowledge of FATF requirements for the COJ Working knowledge of NSIPP
  • Demonstrated capacity for high-level strategic thinking Solid analytical and interpretative skills
  • Highly developed communication and persuasive skills inclusive or oral and written communication Independence in decision making
  • Exceptional time management and organisational skills Intimate knowledge of public relations strategies
  • Sound presentation skills
  • Good negotiation and networking skills
  • Proficient  in using software including Microsoft Suite. Ability to use  PhotoShop and other designing software is a plus.
  • Skilled in media interaction
  • Highly developed human relations skills Capacity for creativity
  • Exceptional team player
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelors Degree in Mass Communication or related discipline 
  • At least three years related experience
  • Experience in reputation building and management.
