The POO will provide essential support to the Plant Manager in ensuring the efficient operation of the factory’s machinery, equipment, and overall plant environment. Also assist with managing day-to-day plant activities, including equipment upkeep, utility performance.

The purpose of this role is to ensure that there is assistance and support for the Plant Manager with the management and overall efficient functioning of the factory’s machinery and equipment and the overall functioning of the plant and its 
environs.


Complexity of Role
• Training and development for Maintenance and Machine operators.
• Managing utility resources and ensuring adherence to maintenance standards.
• Conducting trouble shooting and root cause analysis on machinery errors/faults and implementing preventative actions.

Scope
Includes the day-to-day activities that encompasses the efficient management of the plant. This is including, but not limited to managing and maintenance of the manufacturing equipment, budget preparation and control and engineering projects oversight. 

Responsibilities
• Responsible to the Plant Manager for ensuring the Company’s Preventative, Predictive Maintenance and Repair Maintenance systems are maintained & improved.
• Ensures Preventative and Predictive maintenance of the plant, its equipment and machinery are conducted as per schedule.
• Records the company’s Preventative and Predictive Maintenance programme data using software provided.
• Assisting to ensure that the department is adequately tooled and equipped to carry out daily maintenance functions. Plant start up & shut down schedule are maintained. • Assists in identifying and directing the training needs of Maintenance and Machine operators.
• Assists with the training of production line associates on the proper and efficient use of the company’s machines and other resources.
• Assists with the development of and documentation of work instructions for all maintenance activities.

• Map and provides plant efficiency reports on trends on plant performance, machinery uptime, including run time and effective utilization.

•Ensures the utility area operates efficiently i) air ii) RO Water System ii) gas and iv)  standby power are running at peak performance per servicing and maintenance 
standards.
• Executes resumption of the plant after preventative, predictive and breakdown maintenance and ensure  minimum downtime.
• Provides technical support for efficient plant operation thus ensuring better  reliability and availability of Machinery.
• Maintains the spare parts store for smooth functioning of maintenance activities and provide reports on the lack thereof.
• Provides reports on the plant performance i) downtime ii) OEE report iii) 
TEEP report.
• Conducts root cause analysis on machinery breakdowns to ensure corrective and preventive maintenance is implemented for improvement.
• Assists with the planning, layout and commissioning and handover to production of new and/repaired serviced pieces of equipment.
• Assists with the confirmation of efficient operation of all newly installed, repaired/serviced pieces of equipment.
• Assists with overseeing and confirming to completion ALL contracted jobs and their commissioning.
• Assists with implementing effective work schedules for Maintenance Department personnel ensure job completion.
• Assists with the identification of production inefficiencies and critical elements of plant performance.
• Assists with overseeing and confirm to completion of all contracted jobs and their commissioning.

 

Required qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field.
  • 2+ years’ experience in production management
  • 2+ years in food manufacturing a plus
  • Previous experience in the design and implementation of preventive maintenance programmes and management of capital projects - a plus
  • Working knowledge of managing industrial safety programmes
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize workload, work independently or in a team setting
  • Good leadership, mathematical, computer, and analytical skills
  • Must be willing to work overtime and weekends as needed
  • Must be able to demonstrate good proficiency in the English language to ensure effective new hire training and ongoing communications about safety and quality issues
  • Knowledge of Authorized Economic Operators (AEO) policies and procedures - a plus

• Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Software
• Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task
• Excellent problem-solving and analysis skills
• Good technical learning ability
• Ability to manage through systems
• Exceptional interpersonal and oral/written communication skills
• Good presentation, reporting, and analysis proficiency
• Good organizational skills
• Valid driver’s license (preferably for heavy vehicles) and access to 
transportation.
