Malabar Farms Food Service Limited
The company is owned and operated by the Bovell family and began over eighty years ago as an agri-based enterprise primarily in the production of cattle, pigs, sheep and poultry on substantially large acreages for the domestic and export market. The onset of trade liberalization and the resulting freeing up of the market for the importation of goods, forced the company to diversify its operations into Feed Milling, Construction, Retail Outlets and Food Service. As such the Food Service business forms part of the Malabar Farms Group of Companies which also involves Malabar Development (Construction and Property Development) and Malabar Meats ( a Retail Outlet).
Malabar Farms Food Service Ltd has been involved in the food service and retail trade for over 35 years servicing customers both in Trinidad and Tobago. With a total customer base in the vicinity of eight hundred clients, our customers include all major hotels, restaurants, wholesalers, caterers, offshore drilling rigs, bakery’s, pastry shops, convenience stores and major supermarkets on both islands.
The company is an importer distributor and supplies frozen meat, fish products, poultry, vegetables, dairy, dry goods and gourmet items in the domestic market. The food service component of the business makes up approximately eighty five percent of the business while the retail comprises the remaining fifteen percent.
The company carries a very expansive and diverse product range and prides itself in being a one stop shop for our food service clients. Currently we are the official local distributors for internationally recognized companies such as Hormel Foods, Jenny O Turkey Store, Omaha Steaks, Johnsonville Sausages, Evian Water, Elle and Vire Dairy Products, Island Oasis Cocktails, Cheney Brothers, Big Heart Pets, International Beverages (Maxwell House Coffee), Cavendish Farms, Apple and Eve Juices, Ybarra, and Linz Meats.
In the food service trade some of our major accounts in Trinidad and Tobago include: Hilton Trinidad, The Hyatt Regency, Turtle Beach Hotel, Courtyard Marriot’s, Ruby Tuesday, TGIF, Wendy’s, Marios’ Pizzeria,Wendy’s and Texas de Brazil,. As well as popular local white table restaurants such as Solimar, Chaud, Angelos’and Joseph’s. Whilst in the retail trade Hilo Food Stores, Tru Valu, JTA, Naipauls, Penny Savers, Persad’s Supermarkets, Price Smart and Super Pharm are among our major retail customers.
The management team comprises persons with a wealth of experience particularly in the food service industry with several members of staff having attended culinary schools. Our sales team is headed by Mr.Jean Paul Simonet who has had considerable experience in the food service industry having worked with premier upscale hotels in the United Kingdom as well as general manager and food and beverage manager of prominent hotels in Trinidad.
