Our Client, Sunshine Snacks Limited (a part of Associated Brands Industries Limited), is seeking to fill the position of Maintenance Manager. This is a permanent position based in San Juan.

  

ROLE PURPOSE

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading the end-to-end maintenance, engineering, and asset reliability function to ensure safe, efficient, and uninterrupted 24/7 plant operations. This role drives a proactive, reliability-centered maintenance culture, ensures cost-effective procurement and asset management, and builds a high-performing, accountable maintenance team aligned to world-class manufacturing standards.

  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Plant Reliability & Uptime

  • Ensure maximum equipment availability and reliability to support continuous 24/7 operations.
  • Lead the transition from reactive to preventive and predictive maintenance systems.
  • Drive structured root cause analysis (RCA) and eliminate repeat failures.
  • Monitor and improve key reliability metrics (MTBF, MTTR, downtime).
  • Implement Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and reliability best practices.

Maintenance Planning & Execution

  • Establish and enforce robust maintenance planning and scheduling discipline via CMMS.
  • Ensure 100% visibility and control of all maintenance activities (planned vs unplanned).
  • Lead shutdown planning and execution with cross-functional teams.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely, on time, and to high quality standards.

Procurement, Cost Control & Governance

  • Ensure proper procurement of parts, equipment, and services in line with company policies.
  • Enforce strict adherence to Stores and Procurement Procedures, including:
    • Vendor selection and due diligence
    • Competitive sourcing and quotation processes
    • Approval controls and documentation
  • Drive cost efficiency without compromising reliability or safety.
  • Develop and manage service contracts and supplier performance.
  • Collaborate with Finance and Procurement to ensure budget compliance and transparency.

Spare Parts & Inventory Management

  • Ensure optimal spare parts availability aligned to critical equipment needs.
  • Prevent overstocking, obsolescence, and stock-outs through disciplined planning.
  • Implement inventory control systems within CMMS.
  • Work closely with Stores to maintain accuracy, accountability, and audit readiness.

Asset Management & Capital Accountability

  • Establish and enforce asset lifecycle management practices:
    • Acquisition
    • Maintenance
    • Performance tracking
    • Disposal
  • Ensure proper accounting, documentation, and authorization for disposal of capital equipment and parts.
  • Maintain an accurate fixed asset register in collaboration with Finance.
  • Support capital expenditure planning and ensure ROI-driven investment decisions.

Leadership, Culture & Team Development

  • Be a hands-on leader with strong presence on the plant floor.
  • Drive a culture of accountability, urgency, and ownership within the maintenance team.
  • Address poor attitudes and behaviors; build a disciplined, solutions-oriented team.
  • Coach and develop team members to improve technical competence and problem-solving capability.
  • Establish clear expectations, KPIs, and performance management systems.

Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence

  • Identify and implement improvements to increase efficiency, reduce downtime, and lower cost.
  • Lead initiatives to improve equipment performance and plant throughput.
  • Partner with Production, Quality, and HSE to drive cross-functional improvements.
  • Promote data-driven decision-making using CMMS and maintenance analytics.

Safety, Food Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure full compliance with:
    • HSE standards
    • Food safety standards (HACCP, GMP)
  • Enforce safe systems of work for all maintenance activities.
  • Ensure contractors comply with all safety and operational requirements.

  

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering (or equivalent)
  • Master’s level qualification is an asset

Experience

  • Minimum 7–10 years’ experience in manufacturing maintenance
  • At least 3–5 years in a leadership role
  • Experience in food or FMCG manufacturing strongly preferred
  • Proven experience managing 24/7 plant operations

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and control systems
  • Experience with CMMS systems
  • Expertise in preventive and predictive maintenance techniques
  • Knowledge of procurement processes and vendor management
  • Understanding of asset management and capital control practices

Leadership & Behavioural Competencies

  • Hands-on, lead-from-the-front leadership style
  • Strong accountability and performance-driven mindset
  • Ability to challenge, reset, and improve team culture
  • High level of problem-solving and decision-making capability
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills

Working Conditions

  • Plant-based role with significant time on the production floor
  • Required to support after-hours, weekends, and emergency situations
