We are looking for a vibrant, energetic, proactive and passionate Quality Control Technician.

Position Purpose

The purpose of this position is to coordinate and execute all Food Safety and Quality Assurance related activities within the Commissary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor key initiatives implemented to raise FSQAS performance (Food Safety, Quality Assurance and Sanitation System)
  • Suggest areas for improvement in our FSQAS
  • Support and attend scheduled QA team FSQAS related training
  • Monitor the FSQAS System at the Commissary
  • Assist in the problem solving of key issues with stakeholders
  • Support the Quality Assurance Officer in product development and product testing
  • Identification and escalation of non-conformances observed with our contractors, employees, processes or facilities
  • Support the development, implementation and verification of FSQAS risk management related policies
  • Comply with corporate policies, procedures, health and safety requirements, and environmental requirements at all times
  • GMP and storage checks for both units in Commissary
  • Monitoring of sanitation team to ensure master cleaning is being conducted
  • Validating the quality and food safety standards of raw material upon receipt
  • Checking of vegetables in storage to ensure desired shelf life can be achieved and approving their transfer to production
  • Shelf life tests of finished goods
  • Monitoring of storage temperatures
  • Monitors dispatching to ensure temperature standards are met for products and trucks
  • Finished products inspections
  • Pre-Operational Checks for the Production Unit
  • In house water quality tests
  • Chemical control
  • Validates completion of CCP monitoring activities
  • Validates in process verifications of quality and food safety standards
  • Monitoring of sanitation team to ensure master cleaning is being conducted
  • Carries out Cleaning Verification activities
  • In-house calibration of thermometers
  • Lux monitoring checks
  • Internal and External Bait Station Checks
  • Glass and Brittle Plastic Checks
  • Assists the Quality Assurance Officer with product development activities as needed

Qualifications & Skills Required

  • 5 CSEC subjects including Mathematics and English and 2 years’ experience in a food manufacturing industry OR
  • Food related certificate or diploma with 1 years’ experience in a food manufacturing environment
  • GMP/HACCP training is an asset
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Unquestionable integrity
  • Flexible and quick learner.
  • Able to work under pressure
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Must be able to work on weekends and public holidays
