ASSISTANT DOCKMASTER
An organization engaged in industrial and maritime development, wishes to recruit an ASSISTANT DOCK MASTER.
SALARY: $2,590,414.48 per annum
JOB SUMMARY
This position ensures the berthing, mooring, storage and servicing of boats. The scope of responsibilities includes routine inspection and repairs to docks, plumbing and ancillary equipment to assure the appearance and condition of property, and assuming all responsibilities for the daily operations of property.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Associate degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or in related field OR
- Diploma or equivalent in General Building Maintenance PLUS
- Three (3) years previous marine and minor repair experience
- Port Facility Security Officer certification is an asset.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE SKILLS, & COMPETENCIES:
- General seamanship knowledge, including boating rules, basic navigation and inshore and offshore mooring techniques
- Good understanding of marina operations
- Carpentry, plumbing and repair knowledge.
- Travel lift operation
- Diagnose/repair and/recommend appropriate action on a broad range of property maintenance issues
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee and assist when necessary, in the reservation and dock assignment system
- Patrol docks and regularly perform dock checks.
- Oversee and perform where necessary shipyard duties, including but not limited to machine maintenance, blocking, storage and billing.
- Supervise/provide assistance to front desk and retail operations, fuel dock, maintenance, grounds and janitorial crew as needed.
- Ensure the launching and towing of vessels, the management of fuel sales, boatyard operations, yachting accommodation and billing.
- Carry out routine inspections and repairs to docks, plumbing and ancillary equipment to assure the appearance and condition of property.
- Enforce appropriate safety regulations required to achieve safety for all customers and employees.
- Supervise the renting of boat slips; ensure that boaters observe all marine rules and regulations, dry-docking of boats
- Monitor and log electric, water and cable usage of boats and the distribution, collection and accounting for electrical splitters, telephones and keys to the facility.
- Berth vessels and assist Captains in hooking up shore-side panel, ties, water and cable. Regularly check dock lines
- Maintain all mooring for dockage and maintain and perform minor maintenance.
- Assist with the enforcing of marina policies and procedures.
