We are seeking a strong technical leader who has an entrepreneurial mindset to fill the role of Material Planning Manager. The ideal candidate must possess strong analytical skills and interpersonal capability to engage and influence key stakeholders within a multicultural, matrix structure. The role is responsible for executing, controlling, and monitoring direct material supply planning and inventory management activities with the objectives of maintaining stable and accurate inventory levels, high service levels for the Jamaican plants under its scope. This involves maintaining the balance between supply of materials and consumption at the plant level, increasing inventory visibility and efficiency while optimizing inventory investment.

The role functions as a critical point-of-contact between the regional/global functions and the local teams, translating high level, strategic directions into detailed, measurable, and operational objectives. The incumbent will report directly to the North America Materials Planning Director.

What We Want From You….

The incumbent will be performing the following activities:

Strategy definition

  • Provide input to the development and implementation of the planning strategy and inventory management policies and guidelines
  • Analyze a variety of information and data from multiple operational sources to support the North America (NA) Materials Planning Director in making informed decisions about the material supply strategy
  • In line with inventory management policies, support the NA Materials Planning Director in analyzing performance data and monitoring performance against set KPI’s and when necessary, contributes to the definition of the KPIs
  • Contribute to the deployment of sustainable planning actions following inventory management guidelines and programs

 Planning activities

  • Develop material plans and schedules required to satisfy demand and that are in line with planning strategies and inventory policies
  • Analyze changes to purchasing forecasts to determine impact on supply and recommend adjustments to demand and/or supply plans
  • Monitor materials consumption patterns and adjust supply schedules as required.
  • Chair weekly Material Planning meetings.
  • Identify constraints to material plans and advise Supply response team in a timely manner.
  • Monitor Material service delivery performance
  • Supervise the execution of the MRP process of direct reports ensuring availability of raw/packaging material required to meet production schedules
  • Supervise changes to MRP output and ensure his/her direct reports expedite or notify relevant parties of delays
  • Provide projections for packaging and raw materials, and storage capacity requirements to identify constraints
  • Represent as required, the Material Planning function with respect to Packaging and Raw Materials in the Product Innovation process
  • Develop and maintains packaging materials depletion reports as needed
  • Monitors inventory levels and adjust purchase requirements to ensure levels meet targets.
  • Assists the NA Materials Planning Director with the identification of slow moving and obsolete stock
  • Support the NA Materials Planning Director with the coordination of and preparation for the S&OP process
  • Generate planning reports relating to raw/packaging materials and planning master data
  • Support continuous improvement of business processes and IT systems
  • Maintain ISO 9001, G.M.P., HACCP, FSSC 22000, safety standards and other relevant standards
  • Along with the Master Data/Reporting specialist, responsible for the creation, modification, and deletion of all materials master data in the Planning related information systems required to ensure supply and reporting requirements
  • Provide annual succession plans/training plans while maintaining team members’ welfare through the assigned HR partner whilst ensuring compliance to HR policies
  • Carry out master data management activities for the North America Planning Hub as required
  • Carry out Regional Replenishment planning for the North America Planning Hub as required

What Academic Achievements, Competencies and Track-Record You Will Bring…

  • Bachelor’s degree in an applied Science, Business Management, Economics or equivalent qualification
  • At least 6 years’ experience in material and inventory management or related supply chain roles
  • A minimum of 3 years’ people management and leadership experience
  • Hands-on SAP applications experience
  • APICS certifications and/or Lean Six Sigma training is a plus
  • Strong and proven understanding of MRP concepts and functionality
  • Working knowledge of Supply Chain Fundamentals
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of purchasing procedures and practices
  • Detailed knowledge of Company products and materials
  • Process Improvement Knowledge
  • Working knowledge of the S&OP Process
  • Working knowledge of Inventory Management principles
  • Knowledge of Purchasing ISO Work Instructions, Food Safety, and Environmental requirements
  • Working knowledge of shipping & customs procedures e.g., incoterms, shipping lines, permit requirements, customs duties etc.)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications i.e., Word Processing, Excel and PowerPoint
