Assists the IT Manger in directing, planning, organizing and controlling all activities of the IT Department to ensure the effective, efficient and secure operation of all automated data processing systems within the organization.

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE

Assists the IT Manger in directing, planning, organizing and controlling all activities of the IT Department to ensure the effective, efficient and secure operation of all automated data processing systems within the organization. Consults with senior managers responsible for the development of business planning activities of the company and from that identify how information and communication systems technology can contribute strategically to the achievement of business objectives.  Identifies opportunities for the application of innovative information technology to satisfy the needs of the business and translates them into feasible solutions in the areas of information systems.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABLITIES

  • Procures, installs and maintains all computer hardware and software and all other products and supplies necessary to keep computer systems operable and to fulfill managements requests for computer support.
  • Act as liaison between hardware and software suppliers for informational updates and problem resolution.
  • Creates, maintains and enforces written policies and procedures regarding all computer operations in the IT Department and throughout the organization.
  • Tracks the performance of the IT Department and develops methods to continually improve results.
  • Assists in developing and maintaining the IT Department's strategic plan submitting it for approval and adoption.
  • Assists in developing the Department's annual budgets and administer funds according to budget approval.
  • Maintains security of all data proprietary to the organization and provide the capability to restore essential computer system in cases of failure or disaster.
  • Assesses and anticipates technology projects and recommend appropriate action and resources.
  • Provides leadership and direction for direct reports and promotes individual and team effort in achieving the goals of the Department. 

 

   KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ACADEMIC AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

 

  • MSc with empahasis on Computer Based Management Information Systems
  • Bachelor Degree in Management Studies, or equivalent
  • At least seven (7) years’ experience in all phases of computer operations with experience in project implementation and information technology systems reviews.
  • Strategic Thinking, Project Management, and Analytical Skills
  • Functional with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Visio, MS SQL and PowerBI
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills.
  • Good communication skills, well-developed interpersonal skills, and a strong structured technical writing ability.
  • Must be highly motivated, responsible, possess initiative and above average problem definition and resolution skills.
  • Prior experience managing IT budgets (OpEx and CapEx)
