Job description:

 

Job Title: Utilities Controller (5-month Contract)

 

 

Primary objective of the job:

 

The Utilities Controller will be responsible for building strong working relationships and coordinating engagement between Digicel and various state agencies that Digicel is required to partner with in the delivery of its services to Digicel Clients.

 

This position is a 5-month contract (in the first instance) with the potential of a month to month renewal. 

 

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage Digicel’s engagement and communications with defined state agencies including T&TEC, Electrical Inspectorate and Ministry of Works & Transport.
  • Coordinate the timely payment of all regulatory fees to state agencies as per project requirements.
  • Scheduling of joint activities between Digicel and the respective state agencies to meet project deliverables.
  • Maintain detailed digital records of past, current and future transactions with state agencies.
  • Produce routine reports updating on assigned deliverables to PMO and other key stakeholders.
  • Continuously seek and deliver on initiatives to improve operational efficiencies when engaging with state agencies on behalf of Digicel. E.g. utilization of digital submission and payment platforms.
  • Partner with support units across the business to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Continually review and examine work practices to ensure contractor continues to gain greater efficiencies.
  • Investigate and resolve issues related to all jobs that may be at risk of not being completed on the assigned date and times.
  • Maintain visibility on all rostered jobs and track to completion.
  • Support daily operations call to plan schedule of installations for the upcoming day/week.
  • Support with resolving infield issues encountered by infield technicians or advise of proper procedure to resolve issues encountered.
  • Provide support to internal departments including, B2B, Finance, Support, Network Operations & PMO.
  • Support the maintenance of strong effective relationships with Digicel’s contracting partners

 

 

Academic Qualifications and Experience Required:

 

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Management, Engineering OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in managing 3rd party vendors and management of customer interactions within a telecoms environment.
  • Possesses a valid driver’s permit.
  • Computer Literate with proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office:
    • Microsoft Word
    • Microsoft Excel
    • Microsoft PowerPoint
    • Outlook
  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience working in a related role.

An acceptable combination of academic qualifications and work experience may be considered in lieu of minimum requirements.

 

Functional Skills:

 

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. 
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from internal and external customers, or members of the business community 
  • Ability to effectively present information to management, public groups
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. 
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Solid understanding of a FTTH GPON network, and related OSP components
