SENIOR MANAGER, SHIPPING & BROKERAGE

The ICSL Group of Companies is seeking to recruit a dynamic, results oriented leader for the position of Senior Manager, Shipping and Brokerage located in Port of Spain. A successful leader will radiate confidence, inspire others, and be able to build professional relationships.

Primary Objectives:

• development and delivery of customer focused, profitable, cost effective, timely, efficient, safe, and high-quality business solutions.
• seeking and developing new business opportunities in line with ICSL’s wider business plans.
• delivering a strategic business plan for ICSL/ICBL aligned to ICSL’s group goals and objectives and its strategic business initiatives.
• transforming, energising, motivating ICSL/ICBL’s staff on HSE matters, performance management, employee engagement activities.

Senior Manager Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensure the overall effective management of the shipping and brokerage businesses.
• Oversee client interfaces within shipping and brokerage operations - working closely with the managers of ICSL and ICBL
• Ensure Strategic Business Initiatives are implemented in a timely basis
• Perform monthly review of business performance for ICSL/ICBL and deliver profitable returns for both Shipping and Brokerage businesses
• Develop business plan and budget to ensure profitability
• Implement budgeting and cost control measures across the shipping/brokerage value chain to include management of receivables and payables and ensure expenditure is maintained within allocated budget and established delegations
• Develop and adhere to operational budgets, and actual expenditures.
• Actively contribute to business development, new projects, tenders to ensure all operational costs and management functions are sound
• Lead by example and manage all direct reports and subordinate staff to ensure goals and priorities are achieved and shipping/brokerage services are provided in a cost effective and timely manner
• Construct performance development plans in conjunction with subordinates to set performance direction and highlight training and development needs
• Regularly monitor and assess performance of subordinate staff to provide constructive feedback and highlight development needs
• Promote an environment of co-operation for continual improvement of company performance
• Standard operating procedures (SOP’s) are in place for all aspects of business for both shipping/brokerage.
• Lead and set the standard in all areas of Health, Safety and Environmental Management

Senior Manager Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of 5 (five) years demonstrated success at a similar senior level leadership position
• University degree preferably in Business or the equivalent in on-the-job experience with a demonstrated track record of success
• Demonstrated shipping/brokerage experience
• Demonstrated leadership and people skills management
• Demonstrated experience developing and managing budgets and sound understanding of financial management principles
• Demonstrated experience in developing, coordinating, and implementing business direction, plans, policies and procedures
•  Strategic thinker who understands how to deliver operational results and efficiencies
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
