Job Summary
The incumbent performs scheduling activities for projects in development and execution (including shutdown-related works) in the Engineering Department. The Scheduler is responsible for developing the schedules in conjunction with the Project Manager/Lead Engineer, tracking progress, providing a forecast of the work to be done, analyzing project schedules, and making recommendations for recovery plans and optimization. The Scheduler will also aid the Vice President, Engineering in the development and implementation of enhanced project control systems and processes. The services will also collaborate with the Operations department towards identifying synergies with the departments’ workplans. The incumbent reports to the Vice President Engineering and liaises with the respective Lead Engineers for the projects. The position is also required to provide job-related support to the group of companies, its subsidiaries, and new business ventures as required.
Dimensions
The position of Scheduler-Engineering is accountable for the provision of scheduling services for all projects in Engineering and at all project stages. The scheduling services, as a critical component, will serve to support the project, towards achieving the project targets. The position must have detailed knowledge of scheduling software and project controls techniques and methodologies as well as a good working knowledge of the project stage gate process. The position must be adept at relating to and communicating with all functional levels in the project team, the organization, and contractors as it gathers, evaluates, and analyses schedule-related data. The position must also have a strong proficiency in developing comprehensive reports on project progress.

Nature & Scope
The position will be required to work with Project Managers/Project Leads, to develop project schedules and interpret and analyze project data to ensure that schedule targets are achieved. Of utmost importance, the position must provide support to the project team, the Engineering Department and collaborate with the Operations department in an efficient, effective, and timely manner. The position must evidence excellent interpersonal and communication skills, organizing, time management, and analytical skills. In addition, the position must maintain awareness of project priorities, issues, concerns, and requirements, including that of the Group Project Management Methodology Framework.
The position interfaces internally with key departments such as Business Development, Operations, and HSSS as well as the Project Management Office (PMO). Externally, the position interfaces with the various Contractors for the projects.
It is also imperative that the incumbent participate in and encourage the use of accepted Safety programs and initiatives that are instilled in the Company’s policies, procedures, and as an extension, the safety culture.

Minimum Acceptable Academic Qualifications
BSc. in Engineering from an accredited tertiary institution.
The following certification will be an asset:

A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited tertiary institution, and a Registered Engineer with the Board of Engineering.

Minimum Number of Years of Relevant Experience
Eight (8) years of related working experience in the petroleum or Petro-Chemical sector, of which five (5) years should be in a project environment (project development or project execution).
OR
A UTT or NEC Technician Diploma in Chemical/Process Engineering, Electrical/Electronic, Mechanical, Instrumentation, or a related discipline.

Ten (10) years of working experience in the petroleum or Petro-chemical sector, of which seven (7) years should be in a project environment (project development or project execution).
