Job Purpose The Manager of Investment and Business Development would be responsible for increasing the contribution of Tourism to GDP by directing and co-ordinating the functions and activities of the Investment and Business Development Division. The incumbent will achieve the job’s purpose by: - Developing tourism proposals and presenting opportunities to potential users of Trinidad’s business and local tourism which further the strategic tourism objectives of Trinidad.
- Expanding the use of Trinidad as a business, meetings, conventions, and other events destination in the Caribbean.
- Maximizing the use of incentives outlined in the National Tourism Policy and Tourism Development Act.

Accountability |
The Manager of Investment, and Business Development will be held accountable for: - Increasing investment in the Trinidad Tourism Brand, undertaking activities to expand the local tourism sector, and removing impediments to the development of tourism at the investment level.
- Expanding the scope of tourism offerings in Trinidad through the incentive programme and collaborating with key stakeholders for growing tourism in local communities.
- Co-ordinating with other business units to ensure that the total Trinidad Tourism package is sufficiently appealing and innovative to increase and sustain tourism investment in Trinidad.

Key Duties |
- Develops and drives the business strategy for business development, investment, and funding.
- Identifies and develops in consultation with relevant stakeholders, tourism investment opportunities, develops business cases, negotiates partnerships, and champions execution of investment opportunities.
- In conjunction with internal stakeholders, develops investment proposals for InvestTT, and other funding and investment agencies to attract investments in the Trinidad Tourism sector (meetings, conventions, eco-tourism, sporting, cultural) and other events
- In collaboration with other business unit establishes and manages key relationships with relevant funding and investment bodies to advance Trinidad Tourism
- Maintains long term relationships with key strategic business partners to ensure continuity of business opportunities.
- Develops standards for funding and investment proposals and ensures adherence by subordinate staff.
- Directs the development of standards, processes, procedures for applicants applying for funding through TTL.
- Ensures that applications for funding through the organization are in keeping with established standards
- Prepares, implements, and monitors an annual tourism business development plan and budget.
- Leads and mentors the Division’s personnel to create a cadre of skilled and motivated business development employees.
- Oversees the approved Divisional Budget.

Qualification and Experience |
Required Education, Experience and Competencies: - Master’s in Business Administration, Finance or Economics.
- A degree in Tourism/ Hospitality would be an asset.
- At least ten (10) years of Senior Management experience of which five (5) years must be in a project financing environment.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: - The incumbent must possess proven capabilities in the following areas: - Selling, negotiating, and growing partnerships.
- Business development, project financing for commercial/corporate and small and medium size businesses.
- Knowledge of international trends in tourism investment incentives.
- Demonstrated ability to drive business growth through strategic, market-based solutions.
- The effective management and development of teams.
- Building meaningful relationships at all levels.
- Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to be an effective representative and key liaison.
- Problem-solving, analytical, and business judgment skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Reports to the Chief Executive Officer. Supervises the positions of Investment Incentive Officer and Entrepreneurship Development Officer. |
